i am curius and at school so i cant check but,
what kind of events does portugal have later in the game, like 1600 onward? they have plenty of leaders earlier but should i worry about getting non later on?

Look in DB\events\major_por.txt for events, and DB\leaders\leaders.por(open with notepad) for leaders

Yes.

Events wise they get quite a lot though the 17th century is quite bleak, though it picks up again in the 18th. Leaderwise most are concentrated around their glory period (as with all nations really )

now to put that knowledge to use and stay quiet soon. i have passed the first century well. i had hoped to find out before i got home so i could scheme away at school but oh well
methinks my army will be poor as my sliders are naval/ anti land forces orientated and with leaders deacresing to nil over time. i sure hope spain stays friendly

Be friendly to them, and they'll let u be. I'm playing Portugal currently, and as long as u keep Spain of ur back, u can forget about Europe for 300 years, as u can happily colonize away and encircle the Afrcian nations and knock 'em out in the 17th century. Like I'm doing.

jeez if i knew how to write an aar i would. my portugal is an economic powerhouse and i never even ment it to be
my income on the income scene is 105 with about 13 going to maint 60 to infra and the rest to my treasury so i can build brazil up massively. so far i have fought grenada to take gibralter and spain only cuz the alliance decayed and they joined england, so stupid me went and joined frances alliance not noticing spain was fighting france so my 20k man army marched to andalusia segied and took it in 2 months to my surprise spain offered 380 ducats i took it ran and sent colonists all over brazil. i got random colonies cities tps and cities over 5k people all over the world.. though my powerbase is definetly brazil and my crazu successful merchants who though under computer control have managed to get 5 merchants in every cot i know of. i cant get monopolies as i dont have lv3 trade and it would just make a lot more work for little more income since my only other cot then tago is a s. africe city that isnt worth much.
who would have though playing an economic powerhouse without ever fighting but 1 war of agression would be fun

Portugal Glory until Brazil independance

I´m playing with Portugal!
First took Tangier from Fez, then anexxed Fez! Send missionary Fez and success. Christianity in North Africa!
Second, I made an alliance with Castela and Aragao to defeat the muslim kingdom of Granada. My army concentrated in obtaining Andalucia! Sucess!
(historically the portuguese king helped the spanish king against Granada - D. Fernando de Almeida, great leader, helped during the siege)
Third, Started (earlier the colonisation of Brazil and went down the Strait of Magalhaes - went with war against the Inca nation. Conquest of several cities!
Fourth, Exploration of Africa, very slow and difficult, but managed to reach India.
For now that´s it

Important - Grab something of the Muslim nation of Granada!

Where the Hell is Madeira Island? Already reclaimed in EUI - WHERE THE HELL IS MADEIRA ISLAND????

if portugal takes andalusia, does spain get her CoT anyway?

I think that as long as Spain exists to get the event, a CoT always appears in Andalusia.

There's no Madeira island in EU II unfortunately and it's really missing

Playing as Portugal, I conquered Andalusia before the CoT showed up, and I still got one. So it hasn't have to be Spain that owns the province...

My Portuguese GC is going well, I've been allied to Aragon from day one and I've managed to conquer all of Castile (Spain) except their capital! I have annexed Inca and Zulu, colonised Brazil, the Caribbean, North Africa, South Africa, India, Indonesia and Australia. The year is 1598... With tax sliders at maximum I get something like 300 ducats a month!

I guess that this is peanuts for the experienced player, but it is my first GC since I have learnt to grasp but the basic operation of the game...

Macao really surprised me though, I was just scrolling around the map when I saw this province in the middle of this uncharted territory which was mine! Mine I tell you! Mine!

Exactly. As long as Spain exists, a COT can pop up in Andalusia no matter who owns it. Useful information for Granada to have...
