Creatures of the Void, was pre-order dlc. Those were actually what this topic was originally made for. I imagine they'll enable purchase of the pre-order DLC on a later date.

I think the most obvious options you have are more robot portraits, biomechanical species, bio-energy based species, and mineral-based species.

For the former-most one, robot pops are pretty bog-standard in this game and having different portraits to distinguish robots built by different empires would be a very nice touch. Doesn't even have to be all that many robots - maybe 4 or 5 more portraits. Also, different colors between robots of the same phenotype would be appreciated.

I don't think I need to go very far on bio-mechanical. Just species that look organic but have clearly drastically modified themselves to be mechanical to a point where they are a through mix of the two, even so far as their descendants.

For the latter two, I know it says in the first post not to mention energy or rock based portraits, but I think you're lacking in imagination when you're suggesting those couldn't be done in a fitting way. Think of it in terms of energy-based species or rock-based species, creatures that might not be literally rocks (maybe reptiles or mollusks beneath their outer shell), but I can easily imagine a species of intelligent creatures evolving with the ability to form mineral shells on their bodies for protection. Same goes for energy - not necessarily energy like the unbidden. Maybe their bodies are made to easily gain electrical charge, maybe their bodies ignite easily without causing themselves harm. Maybe they're built to keep their bodies very frigged.

How about... more variation within each species type(i.e., having more portraits within the platypus base)?

Agreed, more phenotypes, clothing options, dimorphism between genders (someone in the other thread had the idea of male avians having much more brilliant plumage in greens, blues etc while females were browns and such) and all that would be nice. Maybe ethos-based changes? Fanatic materialists get cybernetics and such.

How about great space cocks? No, not roosters. Male members. Archaeologists found many such objects from prehistoric times. Maybe it's not just an example of primitive phallic cult, but worship of a certain master race that uplifted us? Think about if you have the medical knowledge to use neurology on the whole species scale to boost their cognitive abilities, changing shape of reproductive organ to resemble proud creators would be easy. Well, if half retarded US plastic surgeon can shape cocks then ancient aliens could too.

Massive #13? A fitting name, if I do say so myself.

And you may not know what an otter looks like.
Look, we both disagree on this. So let's leave it at that.

I agree #6 is a sloth, its no where near an otter. a cute otter race would be nice though and otter are kinda in the same "league" of hyped cuteness as cats

a corgi race would be even more awesome :D

I believe that already exists. It's a fungoid

Edit: oh that's what the other poster meant by massive 13
