Some see-through Jelly creatures would be nice. Yes, there is a likeness to an ostrich, but the feathers on the head don't look quite like that. Heck, I see likenesses in various people I meet. Many all seem to look like someone. Someone came up to me & said I had a likeness to some guy on TV once.
we may not have space otters yet (they were suggested barely 2 posts above mine probably just as a South Park reference), but we have a space porcupine, space platypus, space horse, space cat, space fox, space warthog and space goat already as mammals and that's before we include the space parrot, cockroach and toadstool etc in the other species types.
That said, think of the pokemon analogy. You are encouraging them to release more pidgeys and rattatas and ekans's while I'm saying we need some charizards and ditto's and mew two's.
I never suggested space whales, or viruses or dinosaurs or silicon species or even plants. When I say bio-luminescent/deep sea creatures, I mean things like this, which 100% do exist on Earth but appear alien nonetheless. Obviously we've never seen an alien species, so anything we come up with will doubtless be based off some kind of Earth based life. The question is how closely it resembles it and how many are based off the more mundane varieties of life as we know it.
PS, regarding your picture the bird is loosely based off an ostrich in my opinion. It shares the beak and rough head/neck shape, but simply has 4 eyes a slightly shorter neck and some extra plumage.
