Our scope for launch is to have the simulation working fault free up to 1 million citizens. Keep in mind they all have jobs, homes, education levels, names etc. so it's not just a number but a simulated person.

I'm relatively sure this is unlockable just like the city size limit, but then the simulation might start struggling at times.

Haha, no, not really. Just that the simulation becomes too heavy to calculate properly past a certain level, risking things like performance drops or not perfect calculations of routes, tasks, wants or whatever. I'm not a programmer so I'm just guessing here but I reckon that is what is setting our limit.

If the simulator can only handle 1,000,000 people. You should only have a few decent skyscrapers of 50 To 60 storeys to make it look realistic. The metropolis look would look fake.

cd concept, I think the number of skyscrapers would be dependant on how you nurture your district. I can think of one city (mine) that had a good number of skyscrapers back when it had 800,000 people - would have had more too if it hadn't sprawled every which way. A rich city can have a lot of skyscrapers.

If you don't mind me asking TotalyMoo, would a city of 1,000,000 take up the majority of the map? Half the map?

Nice, such large city will require a lot of ram or more cpu based? i got a quad core cpu but not an immense ammount of ram, didnt bother to expand yet, but this might be a good reason to do so.

A couple of Citybuilders spring to mind when I think of population limits, like Tropico, for which it was infuriatingly tiny and my beloved Caesar 3 which had a respectable but still limiting sprite limit. I understand why these limits were there, but anything built by man should be made so that their limiters can be removed.

CPU and RAM do two different jobs. It's quite feasible that adding more people would require significantly more of both (and/or GPU capacity).
