Here's a question for you:

You have a 383mghertz laptop. What is the operating system you are running under? I hope its Windows 98 because Windows 95 can't support Direct X 8.1 which is needed by HOI to play. I had to learn this the hard way when I caouldn't play a game on my laptop due to Direct X contraints. BTW Direct X 8.0 is the highest that will go on Windows 95.

Ah, yes that is one of the few positives I have. I do have DirectX 8.1 along with my Windows '98...perhaps there is hope for my pathetic system...

64 mb ram? I tried EU2 on an old P2-300 with 64 mb ram in Win2000.. it was eerily close to unplayable due to constant hard disk to memory swapping. So.. I can't really imagine that HoI will be less resource hungry than EU2 was. Maybe it will work ok in Win98 though..
Oh, and the 383 megahertz will probably limit your game resolution to 800*600.. otherwise the scrolling will be painfully slow
But hey, I don't even have the game yet.. it might work.. I can only give you my EU2 experience. But you have my sympathies :)

To tell the truth...EU2 worked great on my computer, which was surprising to me as well! :D No lag most of the time! All I can do is pray to God my computer can perform miracles!:D

Patric...in your opinion (or anyone else who has played the game or someone who has some knowledge of what is going on), will the game run smoothly or even run at all?

If I were a betting man, I would bet money that your laptop will run HOI fairly decent and with satisfaction. Why? I ran EUII on a PII 400 with 128 RAM. Your laptop isn't that far behind my PC and I'm not worried. I think you should do fine. :)

If there are slow down problems, which I doubt, just invest in some more RAM and that should do the trick.
