I've been playing CK2 a while, and achievement hunting is a really fun thing to do, and you do feel satisfaction upon completion. Kingdom of David was fun, as were the UK ones and Caliphate strikes back. In fact EU4 has some excellent ones such as the Sweden is not Overpowered (a really fun playthrough).
Recently I feel the achievements leave a lot to be desired.
Look at the list. There is a lot of very gamey nonsense in there. I tried to do the 7 Deuls one, about 3 times. You would never be able to get that achievement in an ironman game just playing normally. It wouldn't be possible. It is basically load a game and hope for events to fire and not to die. (I feel a lot of the ones brought in by WoL were similar o this and basically involved boycotting certain features at the expense of targeting an achievement.
I looked through again at the amount of daft India religion achievements/Norse based achievements. (l like the collect 1000g in one raiding trip, because this is beneficial to the realm and isn't basically wasting a few hours on a playthrough you will retire from). Look at Viking Ummah....Incredibly easy, but at the same time it would only really happen if you played through in a Gamey way intending for it to fire then ended the game.
I'm sorry for complaining, because I do love the game and the developers I very much respect, especially given the fact that one of their team will almost certainly read this, but can we have some decent achievements please? Stuff like reconquista starting as Asturias, or Ireland conquering England, or anything which involves playing as a Slav.
I have tried to do the Zoroastrian achievement about a dozen times, each time I fail I laugh, because I played through and it was very fun playing the game and really seeing how close I could get (This is one I refuse to be 'gamey' with) , whilst 'slander 20 people' I did on various office lunch hours with my friend and commented the whole way through that we were just doing it for the sake of it (I get VERY long lunch hours, on a desk facing the door

Anyway could we request the next set of steam achievements be more about gaming and less about being gamy please?
P.S Although reapers due is infuriating, the next mechanics and events are very, very cool. Thanks a bunch
P.P.S - I understand you also make achievements to try to highlight the new mechanics, and that is cool. But as a person who likes challenges, it would be nice to do something one Ironman mode that involves one of the areas that are literally ignored by achievements yet still look fun.
