Hello, good evening everyone.

I don't know if you will like it or not. But I think its should.

My idea:

These have three types of pollution:
  1. Marine pollution
  2. Land pollution
  3. Spatial pollution (space)

Each of the three of these three types of pollution generates happiness, development of the population see other factors as well, planets.
In function with also as I saw the projects of the senate, some civic, trait of the species too ...
Each district built pollutes a lot or not at all.
In the meantime, we would have a pollution meter between +100 0 -100 overall for all the systems and which is an average of all.

I think these a good idea, which can be improved with your advice ...

Edit: Thanks for those who voted for this feature.

He could have a new faction for example ecological. With various positive and negative goal, like other factions.

He could have two new wars:
  1. An internal war by rebellion too much pollution.
  2. An external war by casubelis for a space too polluting.

See three new wars for those with federation related dlc:
  1. An internal war by rebellion too much pollution.
  2. An external war by casubelis for a space too polluting.
  3. A war external and or internal to the federation for too much pollution.

He would have one or two new traditions:
  1. Ecology
  2. Polluter
He could have decisions at the senate level for those who have the dlc that goes with it. An overhaul of all decisions that have the dlc pollution for example with additions of pollution modifier.
New civics, a new origin, redesign of features according to the dlc, new perks climb.
A more detailed interface at the level of planets with pollution.
A new Pollution interface with details on the systems, and the planets that are there.

I think that would be a new immersion in the breasts of space, with an addition of gameplay, I think.

I wouldn't split pollution up by type, it would be a lot of extra work.

I think you meant pollution should reduce happiness not generate it, it should also reduce habitability when it builds up. There would need to be buildings that reduce pollution but have an opportunity cost for building against buildings that increase pollution and productivity.

Finally, there will be an increase or decrease in happiness, food consumption, production, population depending on the level of pollution.
Indeed, you are not wrong but it would not be a redesign at the level of a pollution dlc

Food consumption, pop growth and job output are already affected by Habitability, I might add an extra negative to farmers though. Adding a couple buildings doesn't necessarily mean a new DLC, but an Ecology and the Environment DLC that includes a pollution mechanic may not be out of the realm of possibility.

An external war by casubelis for a space too polluting.
It can only be an ideological war fought by (fanatic) ecologists against polluter (which fits your other idea about faction: existence of faction requires existence of ethic, and ethic can be adopted by empire). There is no plausible way how pollution in one star system could affect neighboring star system, it is too damn far.

I think you meant pollution should reduce happiness not generate it, it should also reduce habitability when it builds up.
Ideally, mismanaged pollution should allow getting something close to Tomb World :)

I really do not see what this will add to the game. Management of planets is interesting at start but eventually you just have too many of them to need something else to micromanage.

I don't think polluter should be a tradition or ethic. What commically evil empire builds it's way of living around polluting things just for the sake of it?

Generally the idea of pollution is not bad. It could also give a reason to go over 100% habitabilty to avoid the problem a little.

Once factions got some love it also could tie into those a bit more. And if done well it could give pacifist empires a little more things to do.
