The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Advisors may now jockey for positions of influence and adversaries should save their schemes for another day, because on this day Crusader Kings III can be purchased on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.
It isn't Rome 2, for the reason Jakt pointed at; it isn't an expansion, because it would not get a separate forum; and we know there is at least one new IP in the works. It leaves Victoria III, HoI4 or a new game altogether. And two of these are true.I voted for Rome 2, just because all the others seem even less likely (they wouldn't get a Game of Thrones IP licence, and besides, none of the other games really fit with the "Nero" thing). If it is Rome 2, it'll probably be an EU4 expansion, because it seems unlikely that they would release a whole new standalone game so soon after EU4.
I would actually quite like to see Victoria 3, though. I am quite a newcomer to the Paradox "fold " so to speak, and I came over from Civ and Total War because Paradox games were supposed to be deep, complex, and more realistic. I had seen Vicky 2, with it's sliders and buttons and systems and pie charts, and thought "wow, that looks awesome", but I was put off by the ancient-looking interface and graphics. Eventually, I cancelled my Rome 2 TW pre-order and got EU4 instead. I love it, but it lacks a lot of the complexity that I expected from seeing Vicky 2. I would love to see a Victoria 3 with all those sliders and complex mechanics left intact, and even some new ones, as well as better graphics and the like. I think that Paradox (with the new budget they must be getting from the success of CK2 and EU4) could really hit it out of the park. The only bad thing about a Victoria 3 would be that it's not really the most interesting period in history (in my opinion, anyway). The best of both world, then, would be an EU4 Rome expansion with all those nice pie charts?
Could be, but to me Armstrong sounds like something completely different, due to the clues. For me Armstrong sounds more like HoI4 than Nero. But we will see
