Really like the idea. It may be though just a wee bit too much to ask, since there will probably thousands of generals. While it might not only be a pain to edit all the stuff in, it will be even harder to guess political allegiances of each one of them. It could be done by a community effort, but those 4-5 programmers working on HoI3 certainly should have more important things on their mind.

I will agree that its to much work. Basically imagine if you had Soviet leaders that would only fight for communism. That would mean even if only half of the Soviet leaders are flagged to not accept democracy/facism they would have to be replaced with democtratic and facist leaders. This would lead to Paradox having to do twice as many leaders for Soviet!

And what would we get out of it? How often do you see a democratic or facist Russia?

The only use of such a detailed system would be the ones mentioned by myth. And this is limited to pretty much 3 major events. Soviet purges, Hitler plot, and 2-2-6 incident in Japan. I think its much easier to handle these 3 by event than implementing a system that needs many hundreds of new leaders and requires research into political background of all the thousands of leaders we already have.

fanatical said:
I doubt you can name many cases where the military leaders of the prior regime actually stick around. They'll either fight openly, leave the country, resign, be killed or 'tried' and then killed.
This is plain wrong. I claim that for any cout d'etat or revolution to be sucessful you need the support of the generals more than anything else. And in any case where a nation was defeated and surrendered the new army would be built on the old one. How many WW1 veterans were filling the leadership ranks of WW2 in Germany for example?

Most Generals swore an oath to their country not the Goverment ruling it
( yeha, Wehrmacht Oath is an exception here ) so i guess they would still fighting if they are not loyal since it´s still your country you would abandon and therefore everything you fought for in the first place
In the USA we swear our oath "To preserve and protect the CONSTITUTION of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic". So truly loyal officers here would not support any change away from the constitution.

I've asked only to the option to be made for modders, with all leaders set to default (=all ideologies) by Paradox.
Why would anyone object to that is beyond me

And do I reply to you anywhere in my post? No I don't which means Im replying to / talking about Opening Post made by ElQuapo...

And as it happens ElQuapo does ask for it to be made by Paradox and be part of the original game.

If you read my first line however "I will agree that its to much work.", then perhaps you can get a hint that im on your side of this argument?

Why anyone would reply to me when im not talking to him, without even reading my post carefully is beyond me

Rather than having it be done individually, how about just have a certain part of a text file that turns certain leaders off if the government is a certain ideology or further? (E.g. Fascists refusing to work in a government that is Social-Democratic or beyond)

Like maybe in leader files it can be used for loyalty, like "will_not_serve=yes;stalinist;right" meaning that x leader will only appear if the government is Stalinist and if anything to the right of Stalinism (LWR, etc.) appears then he will not fight. Or you can just make it more general, like communist;right (Stalinists, Leninists, Left-Wing Radicals, anything to the right of those = will not fight for, etc.)

That way you don't need to fill in the political ideology of Glorious Driver Comrade Ismail Mukhammedov of the hypothetical Greater Kazakh Union whose footnote biography can be easily found in Velikijj kazakhskijj sil Peremestit Konsolidaciejj socializma protiv fashistskikh zakhvatchikov, Vtorojj tom (1943), but you can have Stalin only fight for the ideology named after him.

So yeah, basically what Raczynski said.

Mod it in if you like, into your own game, but please don't have such a thing in the game as sold. I have no desire to have to deal with it.

I was going to reply that it probably wouldn't be moddable, but now that I think about it...it might actually be, since AFAIK we can add new values (like was possible in EU3 and Rome, right?), so it could be done by modders.
