Well - is that nobody cares about Great Poland? :) Probably not; so I start a new thread, waiting for opinions;

for good beginning:
Poland starts in 1820 with two provinces(Warsaw&Posen) and is called Warsaw Duchy (or similiar - no idea how it is in english)

vassal of Russia - and ending vassalizasion begins a war :)

with quite good army (Napoleon and Konstanty make a good job :) )

Are you sure about Warsaw Duchy? Keep in mind that the name cannot be changed during the game... Or we would have to use a whole new tag...
Maybe make it Warsaw Duchy at start with the appropriate (quite Russian) flag. Then after 1830 remove it as a revolter and make Poland (with THAT name) a revolter with the nowadays Polish arms...

Of course if the Warsaw Duchy would live past 1830...

Just a quick reference to polish history of the AoN time period. It's from this fine site : http://www.fotw.ca/flags/ :

"The Grand Duchy of Warsaw was founded in 1807 (under the King of Saxony; Napoleon became Grand Duke in 1809, if I recall correctly). Included roughly the central and southeastern modern-day Poland." - Roy Stilling,, 26 January 1996

"In 1815 most of it became the Kingdom of Poland, which was supposed to be autonomous within the Russian Empire."
- Grzegorz Skrukwa, 6 Apr 2000

I'll try to get the rest together tomorrow, so this thread becomes more than just a quick reference.

The rest would be times in which the Poles tried to overthrow their Russian suppressors (increased revolt risk...) but were always beaten (*sob*).

There were a few big uprisings, which could be russian events (or anyone else who occupies this territory)

Well, between 1820 and 1914 there was no real Poland. There was what seemed to be a Polish nation, but it was under Russian rule.

Poland cannot exist at the beginning of the game, not even as a vassal. You should make a "Congress Kingdom Poland" which is a revolter.

You have to have Polish culture in the following provinces: Danzig, Galizien, Krakow, Silesia, Poznan, Wielkopolska, Podlasia and Masovia.

These provinces should have a +3 revoltrisk through nationalism (I think I have seen Irish provinces keeping +3 RR for more than a few decades in AoE).

Additionally there should be some events which trigger the two big revolts. "Congress Kingdom Poland" (maybe we should pick another name) can then perhaps rise as a nation.

In reality, it didn't.

The "November Uprising" (1830-1831)

In 1830, after the revolution in France and unrest in Holland, Nicholas (Tzar of Russia) decided to intervene and suppress the move towards democracy in the West. He intended to use the Polish Army as an advanced force but instead propelled the Polish patriots into action.

On the night of November 29th the cadets of the Warsaw Military College launched an insurrection. The Poles fought bravely against heavy odds in former Polish territories around Wilno, Volhynia and the borders of Austria and Prussia. The insurrection spread to Lithuania where it was led by a woman, Emilia Plater.

For a while victory actually lay in their grasp but indecision on the part of the Polish leaders led to defeat. Warsaw was taken in September 1831, followed by terrible persecution; over 25,000 prisoners were sent to Siberia with their families and the Constitution of the "Congress Kingdom" was suspended.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVENT effects:
- higher revolt risk in the provinces of polish culture
- "The province Warsaw is in" (I don't know which) should be controlled by rebel forces (or even by the polish nation) and some other provinces, too
- Armies with leaders (Emilia Plater, for example)

This is all subject to discuss, clarify and change.

The "January Uprising" (1863-1864)

Starting in 1863, the "January Uprising" against the Russians lasted for more than a year and a half. A Provisional government was established and more than 1,200 skirmishes were fought, mostly in the deep forests under the command of Romuald Traugutt.

Italian help came from the "Garibaldi Legion" led by Colonel Francesco Nullo. In 1864 Traugutt and four other members of the Provisional government were captured in Warsaw and publicly executed.

The Uprising was finally put down in 1865, and the Kingdom of Poland was abolished and a severe policy of persecution and "Russification" established. The University of Warsaw and all schools were closed down, use of the Polish language was forbidden in most public places and the Catholic Church was persecuted.

The Kingdom of Poland became known as the "Vistula Province".
