You're getting different advice because people have different approaches to the problem. So let me add another approach.
Surviving as Poland isn't about building the right division template. You're in between the Soviets and the Germans. You can't fight them both off. So ally with one of them to help you defeat the other.
To help you survive when the war starts, assuming you have a chance (see above), you can worry about division designs.
With the latest patch (1.5), the whole concept of the 7/2 division (7 infantry, 2 artillery) has been questioned. Mainly because of the soft attack nerfs. And other nerfs (mainly doctrine I believe) have been put in place to reduce the effectiveness of the 40 width division design. So all of the "wisdom" people have "learned" may no longer apply. Only time will tell.
So go back to the basics. You need a 20 width combat division. You can try a 40 width one, but I don't think you have the resources to build enough 40 width divisions. You can experiment, but if you don't know any better, stick with the standard 7/2 for now. Eventually there will be a new meta or confirmation that the 7/2 still works.
Note someone suggested the 10 width Infantry division. But most usually forget to mention that for them to be effective, you need CAS. 10 width divisions (that are 5 Inf battalions) have high org, so can take a punch. But cannot do much damage in return (but again, because of the soft attack nerfs that may no longer be as true). You need CAS for that. And that implies you having enough fighters to gain Air Supremacy or contested Air Superiorty.
Very simplistic statement, but it's kinda like rock, paper, scissors. Which leads into my next simplistic statement. If you are playing against the AI, you can eventually find a solution that works with your play style. Once you find it, it will work over and over. Not so true against a player. Against them, you need to be more flexible as they will react to what you have done, meaning you have to react to what they did.
Good luck.
