Okay so last question I think... I've heard when you choose to abolish the Sejm a stack of like 70k rebels spawns, which doesn't sound fun. So I have two options: either let noble rebels convert me early and then just convert to Absolute Monarchy the normal way (to both avoid that rebel stack and the Sejm), or through the abolish Sejm event.

Xara stated that the Sejm is a good thing if used correctly - so would general consensus say to stick with the Sejm until I get the event to abolish it?

In my memory they don't all spawn as a single stack, and they don't have your NI bonuses to troops, so with a decent general you'll roll over them. Polish cavalry in this game is superb, a high maneuver/shock leader with a hefty amount of cav will carry you into the 18th century. If you blob properly (assimilate the orders and lithuania) you should have no problems defeating the rebels (unless you're in a nasty war at the time)

For Idea Groups I was thinking of going Diplomatic (useful ideas for Poland, ends with -10% Dip Tech cost, and Poland doesn't need Diplo tech, at least early on, so can use this to build up the National Ideas while you tech up in ADM and MIL), then (probably in this order) Aristocracy (needed for Winged Hussars achievement, but ideas are useful for Poland and ends in -10% MIL Tech), Humanism (great for Poland, and ends in -10% idea cost). Humanism earlier might help with getting cultures accepted, though as long as you take enough Teutonic lands before integrating Masovia, you should be able to get Prussian accepted.

BTW don't forget you get a -10% tech cost bonus if you're able to get 150 relations with a direct western tech neighbour, make sure you this is activated everytime before you tech up.

Also try not to tech up before you can get at least a 10% (or even 15%) neighbour bonus if you can, though for MIL tech sometimes is worth taking sooner.

Innovative has always been one of the strongest idea groups in the game, to my mind, and I think it still will be. "Knowledge Transfer" on its own is reason enough to take the entire idea group. Of course, if you're looking at brute number of monarch points saved, Humanism's -10% idea cost will be a bigger bonus over the course of the game, yeah?

Well the CPU never does it, but it's quite easy to PU Austria. Its pretty much guaranteed that you get an Habsburg king atleast once.

You can also get the Winged Hussars achievement by stacking Aristocratic with Offensive and completing both groups -Quality gives +10% Cavalry Combat ability, but so does the Policy "Chivalry Heritage" (see: http://www.eu4wiki.com/Policies ), though obviously it's only active when the policy is active.

Is Offensive or Quality better generally as the second MIL idea group for Poland (assuming Aristocracy first) , though?

Exactly, you only get the achievment if you're NOT Poland and get a guy from your dinasty on the Polish throne.

Turns out I'm not good enough to play as Poland. Not really sure what achievements to go for now... think I've done most of them within my skill level. Maybe I'll just try and forget about achievements and play as France to make myself feel better.

The policy's are different (No policy for same type of idea group) so you can't do the Aristocratic + Offensive anymore. =(

I'm early 1500's in my 2nd AoW and i'm going for the Polandball trifecta as well. I actually did westernize right after i swallowed both my Knight Vassals because i just got 15 year truce with the Ruskis and i was gonna let the Autonomy tick down while at peace. It's relatively painless with a Lithuania + Moldavia March that was fed 1/2 the Balkans. The new westernization is much quicker, took me 8 years. I'm currently feeding Pskov and Finland the different parts of Moscovy.

My question is how do you force PU's with elective? I've just been looking at it as a pain but i wouldn't mind swallowing say Bohemia once i form Commonwealth. Also is Humanism a no brainer for 1st admin group? Have Diplomacy / Aristocracy and gonna need to go Quality 4th once my Milatary Tech catches back up. I was thinking Admin for -10% Admin Tech Cost but Humanism seems so good.

Just a side note, sorry for tangent.

My new favorite generic starting combo Trade + Humanism early. Really good economically and the policy -10% Idea stacking with Humanism -10% to make future ideas cost 320 points.

For my first game in AoW indeed I choose... Polandball

1- Got 3 provinces from TO
2- Got 1 from Hungary and forced to to release Transylvania - and vassalized it
3- Finally subjugated TO. It´s 1464.

Now I got my first coalition, and legitimacy is beggining to get low. FU Brandenburg :angry:

How the hell do I escape from low Legitimacy hell? Should I allow Brandenburg to be the heir? I have 61 Legy... Also how I get more cardinals? Got only one from Krakow.
