How are the cardinals selected for the provinces? What about when provinces are lost to protastant?
Are the number of cardinals defined by amount of basetax that is catholic? So if all of europe turns protastant except spain, how many cardinals are there?

And is there a way to see on the map where the cardinal provinces are?

If lost to protestant the cardinal disappears.

1 new cardinal is added each year, check the chances at the title of the cardinal.. basically, rich powerful catholic cities gets cardinals, but they try to not cluster in the same country if possible.

A country can only have 7 cardinals.

Just found this out. However, I had 7 cardinals (mostly duplicated at Madrid) as Castille, but once the Pope died while I was controller, Bohemia became the controller with a new Pope, and I went back to having 1 cardinal again. Unless I was going to receive an 8th cardinal in error and the counter reset to 1 again.
