I think it's time to give some love to the character portraits. It will be much more immersive if there is just more variation. It is nice that the character's faces look good thanks to the DNA system but let's be honest some cultures have very little variation... Especially the Persian/Mesopotamian/Anatolian portraits which represent a huge chunk of the map and almost always use a color variation of the Persian hat (which looks like a flower pot). I also hope that the character's appearance will change depending on his occupation kind of like in CK2. For example, let kings wear crowns and generals helmets, add more visual distinction to rich/important characters who are in the council and minor characters who don't have any importance.

While it doesn't change anything gameplay-wise it would still make managing characters a lot more engaging!

As a YouTube put it (don't know his name right now): "It's like everyone is living in the same bedroom in this game."
So to add to your suggestions regarding characters themselves, also more backgrounds could be added.

One of the first steps could be to add something like the following background pictures in general:

- in monarchies a throne room background for the ruler spouse from the spouse perspective in the government tab (maybe for the ruler children too)
- if the co ruler in republics doesn't have the senate background from his perspective in the government tab, add it to him.
- a (governor) palace background for governors (maybe for their spouse and children too).
- an office room background for the 8 office holders in the government
- an own background for researchers too (or give them the same as the one from the office holders)

- a background for the responsible guy of a great wonder (that's not a must, but a nice to have)

Would be cool but I still hope they will focus on clothing first. I don't know if anyone else experienced this but I'm a little disappointed that my ruler looks like a generic levantine guy after restoring Egypt. It would be so much more satisfying if the ruler has an actual pharaoic headcloth it will make achieving stuff like this so much more satisfying. Generals already wear armor when on campaign but why not add helmets like in CK2? Or the fact that my Celtic kingdom that worked very hard to create civilized kingdom rivaling Rome still has naked people in the council. Some portraits are also simply inaccurate like the Mesopotamians using levantine portraits and Anatolians using Iranian portraits.

Combining that with the background rework like you talked about will bring so much life into the game. It is after all little stuff like this that immerses you in the experience.

Agree, but I think creating and implementing these few backgrounds doesn't delay character clothing alongside :) (note: the first two backgrounds of my suggestion are already in the game for the government tab, just not as background for characters)

I fully agree with you! The Iranian Cultures (and some others) look too dark in this game. There's barely any variety in that huge Asian region of this game.

Also, variety in wardrobe is necessary.
Pretty much everyone in Hellenic Religion areas is wearing a toga, unless they've been given a military assignment.
You can't find Egyptian wardrobe unless you go to Nubia. Not even present in Egypt itself. That's a big disappointment.
