The only concern is a Rome Vae Victus scenario where everyone is dying all over the place due to assassins. In my demo game as Duke of Bohemia, all my brothers and sones killed each other off over 20 years to get into the line of succession, basically guaranteeing pretenders will be murderous. Ofcourse, a 20 year demo is not enough to see the real effect of this, I certainly didn't see the same in a Doukas game, though everyone seemed to keep dying on the battlefield instead.

Yeah, to contrast, in my Bohemia game there were only two attempted plots by the youngest brother, both of which didn't even come close to fruition. So, since the demo only lasts 20 years, judging the average overall level of plotting is difficult.

How abou watching ParadoxLps streams strating with the one from 23January, i'm not sure when plotting starts. Might be the stream of 28th January. There are plots, son against king, brother against brother and so on.
http://de.twitch.tv/paradoxianlp/b/306358166 it starts at min 16 something, below are the other streamvideos

or SecretMasters explaining LP
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?579299-Let-s-Play-CK2-Ten-Years-to-Greatness not sure though if theres much plotting, but its great.

Ambitions as i understood are rather for counts to get some chance for prestige, piety and some better possibilities to get out the deadlock situation.

My 2 cents

Only slightly on topic about plot targets with questionable relevance...
it would be nice if the plot was accompanied by the portrait of the target (like on character interacting events) to give a chance for you to understand who exactly you have the option to kill. A tooltip explaining exactly why the death of the character is favourable would be welcome aswell.

I'd like the ability to back exisiting known plots.

Yes, if you know about the existence of a plot, there should be some mechanism to make you follow them, ignore them or just denounce them (privately or publicly).

You can keep track of a plot in the intrigue screen and ignoring it is an option flat out. You can, of course, ask them to end the plot, though that's not quite denouncing them - which is an interesting idea! :)

Agreed. I found out about my lover's plot to kill my wife earlier and wanted in on the action, and that seemed like a grand idea, but all I could do was wait or try an assassination on my own.

1) We tend to add features in free patches when there is time or need for it. Usually only for games that people like & buy. If there are no customers and/or community, the amount of features and fixes tend to become smaller.

2) Each plot you add to the game involves a lot of scripting and events to support it. And then involve quite a lot of QA, not just on the new plot, but on overall balance. There is a finite amount that can be done. We decided to make sure the plots we had in the pipeline were good enough.

3) We wanted to focus on plots for playable characters ahead of NPC-only plots.

4) Plots feel so much more natural for a vassal, so most plots are when you are a vassal. We have had so many brainstorming sessions for plots for independent rulers, but the unused ideas we have had are already covered by other mechanics.

5) Not every character will always be part of a plot.

Enjoy the game!

Fair enough, but please add more for women because it seems 1/3 cause of deaths are because of their plots. I'd imagine that would be quite difficult seeing as they don't really have a part in the game other than used for making alliances and heirs. If they aren't any woman of note, they just for barons/counts.

A plot for a woman to heavily influence a man, most often her prominent husband, could be interesting and true to life. Few women could attain prominence but many were powers behind the throne no doubt.

If successful, the plot could give the male victim some of the plotter's traits and maybe even move his stats closer to hers while ensuring he has high loyalty to her. I dunno if it would be practical, just a thought. I figure its better than having them go on murder sprees all the time.

In a similar vein it could make sense with a plot to spread your own culture, specifically a plot for a parent to ensure that their children are brought up in their culture.

However it could be argued that while these things (influencing culture or personality) might be devious plans and significant ambitions for the people involved, they are not _plots_ as it would hardly be acceptable to throw someone in jail and confiscate their property for such plans.

Does any form of fear and self-preservation balance AI decision to initiate a plot?

Character A might not like character B, but plotting to kill character B is a criminal offence with risk of imprisonment if caught, which is much worse than not liking character B. IMO, it should take a very good motive and specific combination of traits before a random courtier would ever think to initiate such a plot. Just because a character can engage in a plot does not mean a character should engage in a plot.

I personally had not experienced any baby slaying sprees, so I dont if it is a genuine problem in some realms.

Also, I'd like to see more ambitions, especially related to crusades and acquiring and forming new titles.

'Form Kingdom of Jerusalem'
'Become King of Jerusalem'
etc...

I know this isn't the Rome forum, but is this the reason for so little love for Rome? The beta could really use a second round.

well i will be patient enough to wait for game's release to evaluate is there enough plots, but demo didnt have enough hightier (king) title plots available
but if there isnt really enough plots, great idea for modding and dlc's eventough dlc's imho is allways bit of scam :/

In all this plotting about NPC females who are plotting, I somehow miss their plotting to gain a powerful lover at the court. It is difficult if you rule yourself or your husband is either the ruler or the primary heir, but gaining influence/security through seduction might be a nice plotting goal itself and a start for further plotting (like killing somebody). After such "heinous activities", things might take a randomised (or not) turn for the worse by a blackmailing plot from ... well, could be anybody.

Plotting as well to try and have your illegitimate offspring recognised might also pose a nice challenge, for both PC and NPC's alike. I guess linking plots to ambitions might turn the R(ole)P(laying)-factor up a few notches.
