Will you be able to plop functional RCI buildings?

Note by functional I mean people will actually live in the buildings and commute from the buildings (residential) or people will actually work in the buildings (commercial/industrial/office).

I personally don't like this idea. It takes away realism factor as it lets a mayor to decide precisely what building to plop. I think regulations, policies in this case would be a better way to shape a city. Allow certain architectural styles, certain heights, certain roof types, certain colors... It works more like this way in real life.

But of course, there can be an option for those who want this dictatorial feature. :p

plopping is great for small sections of cities that would make the city look extra rad in that area.
plopping the whole city is tiresome, because the cities in C:SL can become very big. I tried plopping in CXL and gave up pretty soon.

An option would be great though.

Don't you love how we're all agonizing over these details? Nine more days and all shall be revealed. Two more days and we'll get tons of more information. It's just that the wait is torture!

And for the record, I too really hope the ploppables are tied to real R/C/I performance. That would an awesome level of control to have over the development of my cities. Sure, it would be time consuming... but I'd totally spend the time, if it allowed me to build the whole thing up just as I wanted.

If ploppables can't have residents or jobs, this game will fail. Hard. It's as simple as that.

The zones are limited 4x4. Any large buildings have to be modded as a ploppable. If they turn out to just be a space-waste on the map it will ruin the simulation completely and ruin the prospect of game replayability and longevity. One of the most popular mods for SC4 was the one that added jobs and residential to the monuments.

many people get bored with the meta game and transfer into a game of "make the best looking and realistic city possible" mode

I really hope you can add residents to ploppables. it is absolutely essential to the longevity of the game for me. for example i want to build a city with golf courses (obviously painted with the filler tool) and have large mansions BIGGER then 4x4 surrounding it, just like in real life . PLEASE CO make this possible please!

It would be nice if the ploppable buildings functioned as more than just parks.

Having to do this for whole blocks or whole sections of the city, I agree would get tiring. I do that now in a railroad simulator I use when building factory areas and cities, and after awhile I have to do something else because it's too much work.
