That's pretty much what computer games are. Silly fun. No need to treat this too seriously. Otherwise majority of people on forum here would have to be condemned as madmen for having fun while conquering world with states like Germany/SovietUnion.

I think the occult stuff is silly, but I think most of the alt history is silly.

that said, on the scale of hoi4, if you wanted to introduce some occult element to Germany and have that actually be engaging, you’d need to—in my opinion—develop a new system. NFs, decisions and event chains wouldn’t really cut the mustard.

So, what sort of mechanical system can be added that has wide applicability to the broader game but satisfies this occult itch?

the propaganda system, balance of power system, congress system, while paradox has only implemented them into one country, they all have wider applicability that modders can take advantage of.

I don’t have an answer, I’m not a game developer, but I think that’s the real interesting nugget in occult or any wonderweapon content. If it’s just flavor text or working within existing systems it’s a lot less interesting to me.

You mean you want proper DLC for this AAR

All you newcomers who haven't read this when it still had pictures. I may still have the pdf somewhere but you'll have to wait a couple weeks before I can look for it.

Don't try to download the pdf link, it isn't there any more.
Oh my, I've gone down the rabbit hole.

Thanks for this bit of Hoi history though

You have to admit, that AAR represents pretty much exactly what this thread is about. An almost perfect representation of a wide selection of 1930s/1940s cultural content for an occult DLC.
