Seeing as we are now in the stage where minors like baltic states and Switzerland (or goddamned ITALY) get love could we also have some nazi occult DLC in the not-too-distant future? Please? or at least an Alien Invasion one? CK2 got Aztec invasion and it was pure awesomeness. EU4 also has some fun fantasy elements. So why not let us send crazyscience expeditions to dig for stuff like Ark of Covenant, Lance of Longinus, Holy Grail, search for mystical places like Atlantis or Shangri-La, go on an alien hunt in antarctica or ressurect dead soldiers as zombies (or vampires cuz Hellsing is fun) and send them back to the frontlines?
I saw a lot of documents on History Channel/Youtube and read a lot of educational picture stories which prove beyond doubt that WW2 and occult go hand in hand!

For example, Nebuchadnezzar built in Babylon Stargate that allowed him to teleport wherever he wanted. That's also why USA invaded Iraq - to prevent Saddam from using it and seize it for themselves. (It's all documented on verified account of History Channel on youtube:
)

Now, imagine how awesome it would be if we had that in HoI4... USA expects to be invaded by Japan from across pacific as usual but Japan instead cleaves through northern India and Iran to british Iraq, seizes this ancient weapon, uses it to teleport their armies directly to pyramids of Tenochtitlan and strike USA in its soft underbelly!

You mean you want proper DLC for this AAR

All you newcomers who haven't read this when it still had pictures. I may still have the pdf somewhere but you'll have to wait a couple weeks before I can look for it.

Don't try to download the pdf link, it isn't there any more.

Oh, these are supposed to have pictures? I sometimes find these old AARs, and wonder who would enjoy all that text.

In "the old days" pictures needed to be hosted on other sites and all of the images have long expired. I probably still have word/pdf files for my old AARs but wouldn't know where to post them or who would care, I always tended to focus on game play and old HOI version game play isn't necessarily of any interest to current HOI4 players. Who wants to read a HOI1 AAR where I only built mechanised, never reinforced the losses of any division and never fought any defensive battles (defence entirely via empty space and counter-attack).

There's a HoI1? ... I mean, I suppose it stands to reason there's a HoI1. I just never hear of it. People are usually singing the praises of HoI2.

HOI1 was a real treat because it wasn't just better than what came before, there wasn't anything that came before - only game in town. All a bit primitive but still great fun. Just a few things about it.
  • The basic combat algorithms were the same as it is today
  • Divisions were either hard or soft - hence my "only build mechanised"
  • Like all HOIs before HOI4, absolute superiority for offensive combat
  • Understrength divisions suffered no penalties so you never reinforce, rather amazingly since there was trickle back taking losses generated manpower to build more divisions
  • No stacking limit - defence was lots of empty space with scattered mechanised super-stacks
  • Strategic movement was exploitable because it was off map and once a unit had completed its "strategic movement delay" it could immediately deploy to any in supply controlled province so - attack front line province, para in every province deep into Poland, strategic deploy most of your army
  • Air combat had far too much detailed player control and you achieve absolute air superiority in a couple of weeks
  • Tech system was exploitable by researched very specific limited range of technology
  • One thing I miss is that tech improved the resist hits percentages (90% with defence, 60% without in later HOIs) This meant that increased firepower and increased "resist hits" would balance out and casualty rates didn't increase throughout the game (which is much more realistic than HOI4)
Things have improved. The game is now actually a challenge.

My favorite part, ever, in the entire franchise was the early use of historical corporations to justify why certain nations could employ certain technologies.

Need heavy bombers, meet Boeing. Computer Services? IBM. Chemical Plants, I.G. Farben can't be beat. Cannon? Try Krupps and Rheinmetal. Trucks? Ford at your service.

The current system is far more egalatarian and not nearly as much fun.
