It's not what I rather would, I and other's with me have other obligations. Also I love ck2 but I mostly play with mods.
the point rewards are always gonna be unlockable meaning that if you have obligations right now you can do it later

Actually they've conformed that there is a last date for them, but that we don't need to be in any hurry.the point rewards are always gonna be unlockable meaning that if you have obligations right now you can do it later
I have a more "let's just wait and see" attitude about basically everything, but this, to me, just made me think of those console games which have console-specific freebies: buy it for PS4, it gets this, buy it for Xbox it gets this, etc. But those things always become available for everyone after a while [from my experience anyway].You are indeed more optimistic than me, but I certainly hope you are right.
Like I've said, I'm willing to pay for content. (Not nickle and dimed via microtransactions, but that is not the subject here), and I don't mind unlocking things in the game I'm playing.
I'm old enough to miss the old business model for games, and I intensely dislike the new ones.
Stellaris released the sign-up rewards (Platipy portrait + flag + symbols of Domination) with the 1.1 patch, so maybe it'll be the same for CK3? Would be nice to give everything a bit after the release
Do we... know what the cosmetics are?
OP explained it badly on page 2 so let me try and be a little more informative while before I get too far in the thread and forget. The same here.
Are there going to be features for CK3 unlocked only if we play Ironman CK2? I didn't read about any such thing, so I asked. Would you be so kind to enlighten me, please?
And because you complained about it I assumed you knew about it, don't you?
Oh no, not hats and hair! Those are so essential to the CK gameplay experience and definitely are going to be unmoddable!OP explained it badly on page 2 so let me try and be a little more informative while before I get too far in the thread and forget.
Currently in CK2 there is an event going on that's going to last for quite a while. What is doing is highlighting a historical figure (this time in Brittaney) and asking you to achieve certain millstones that reward points.
Stuff like conquer X amount of land, have X amount of male children alive at the same time and kill X amount of people from another family in game.
The only caveat is you have to play in a way that allows you to earn achievements (locks you out of using most mods and certain game rules and limits you to using some form of ironman).
The better you do in this the more points you get. and every so many points you unlock a hairstyle or hat to customize your ruler with in CK3. The first costs 10 points and unlocks automatically on acquiring said points, and for now you unlock something new every 10 points. However the gap does exceed 10 points towards the end.
Currently you can only get 18 points and the most expensive hairstyle is 110 points.
I actually quite like this approach. They have just made CK2 FREE (and for all time at that as I understand it), so basically they are saying we have a new game coming out next year so we will give you game its based of for free, and we have some characters we think are interesting.
So they are giving a little backstory and historical context behind the character and goals they think are interesting and saying if you enjoy CK2 that by the time CK3 roll's out you will have earned a few minor cosmetic options.
A dozen or so hats and hairstyles is a far cry from carving out chunks of the game. And who knows if you've never played CK before now you can and might realise its not for you so you can skip CK3.
Or, if your like the rest of us on here you might just fall in love and spend thousands of hours in what I think is one of the best games aver made and have some free stuff ready for the next one.
Personally I think it's great that there is no paywall infront of those. Normally it would be a pre-order bonus or day one DLC. With this their going "here have a free game and play it for free stun in the new game we're making".Oh no, not hats and hair! I have never played CK2 unmoved ever. So even after a thousand hours in the game and always playing iron man I've never gotten a single achievement. But it only took me 30 minutes to get gold in all ranks. Plus an achievement to do with the crusade I never got involved in.No altered checksum for this offer? That means playing without mods...
I understand this is probably done to avoid modding cheats but this giveaway is not for me then. I can't play vanilla again after playing at a bare minimum with HIP + Dark Ages.
I don't care about Vic3.
Ohhh, here come the downvotes.
I agree, I'm just making fun of the handwringing over the fact that people will be "missing out" on something so minor because they don't like having missions.Personally I think it's great that there is no paywall infront of those. I'd much rather this than pre-order bonus or paid DLC. Hell of he less ok if they hadn't just made CK2 free as it's so confusing for a first time buy and so daunting when you see all the DLC. But by making it free you get to try it before you expand. So this is just great.
P.S don't get me wrong. I like PDX DLC policies as it means we're still getting regular substantial updates 7 years later, I just realise that its intimidating for for a new buyer, I got into it 2-3 years ago and had to figure out what I wanted now and what to wait for a sale on.
Well it's nice for you that you consider it minor but not everyone feels the same way. Diffrent gamers value diffrent things. To me constomability in the looks of characters is far more important than game balance for a single player game. In fact I often find that the pursuit of balance is detrimental to fun, hence why I prefer to play modded.I agree, I'm just making fun of the handwringing over the fact that people will be "missing out" on something so minor because they don't like having missions.
Imagine begin this mad about hair lmao

Yes but it illegal to mod in the same content as a DLC does. You're all set then. There are more beards and hairstyles in mods, @TheDungen, than are dreamt of at Paradox.![]()
