You don't even have to play in Ironman, you can play in Bronzeman, which allow multiples saves.
No console or mods that change the checksum. Saves are immaterial, and can be worked around in "proper" iron man anyway.

Aah, thank you for explanation. I didn't know that.My understanding is that certain cosmetic features of ck3are locked behind playing certain iron man scenarios in ck2.
This anoys me to an irrational degree.
I understand it is a form of marketing, but I find it stupid and unnecessary. I hate the way modern games are craved up and given out piecemeal. I don't care if they want micro transactions, likes on Facebook, me to buy dorritos, or spend my time playing other titles. I just want to buy a compleat game and enjoy it the way I want to.
Some people are offended that I am expressing my annoyance with this on the forums, and that's OK, but it's making me realise I'm no longer the target demographic for pdx, and that makes me sad.
But, life goes on.
Rather have rewards such as this come from completing a gameplay challenge in CK2 rather than being a pre-order "reward".
The current challenge is pretty mild on the difficulty scale too, there's a lot more complicated positions in CK2 than playing in Britanny.
Maybe if you would have kept your reaction more civil, people wouldn't be that offended by your annoyance. I understand that we are on the internet and emotions are hyperboled to irrational degrees over a minor stuff like this.
No but I would prefer to have them.So you absolutely cannot live without some hairstyles in a video game?
CK3 would be literally unplayable without some beards?
No my guess is they will be sold as a DLC for those who did not obtain them. Possibly after a certain time after release, something like a year. They are important imho. But it's not like they're unobtainable, is it?
Stellaris released the sign-up rewards (Platipy portrait + flag + symbols of Domination) with the 1.1 patch, so maybe it'll be the same for CK3? Would be nice to give everything a bit after the releaseNo but I would prefer to have them.

I would probably wait a bit more than that, but releasing the stuff for the one year anniversary seems like a reasonable thing, the people who put in the effort got an entire year of feeling special and the people who didn't still don't have to wait that long.Stellaris released the sign-up rewards (Platipy portrait + flag + symbols of Domination) with the 1.1 patch, so maybe it'll be the same for CK3? Yes.If they put the hats and beards in a €3 DLC too, would that make you happier?
It's such a shame that stupidity isn't painful
Suddenly playing the game to unlock content is bad? This has been widely considered great game design for decades, and is one of the biggest reasons people rail against micro-transactions--They rob games of in-game unlockables that used to be free. Because of financial motives, companies strip the games of interesting challenges by getting rid of actually interesting unlockables for your efforts. Now Paradox is putting free unlockables in the game and it's a bad thing? No, it isn't. It's good game design, full stop.
The fact that it's available in CK3 for playing CK2 is irrelevant, especially considering CK2 is now free and CK3 will not be out for several months.
Some people want everything for free with no effort. When game developers cave to that, they strip out the challenge for gamers who actually want to earn something through completing challenges. If I had to pit the two ideologies against each other, I would have to say the Challenge-Motivated customers are a far more compelling base to design a game for.
I'd rather they not be a gameplay challenge reward OR a pre-order bonus OR a microtransaction and just put the fricking game in the actual GAME, on principle. Cosmetic or otherwise.
There is no CK3 player who are directed to play a completely different game, CK2, to have his CK3 feature unlocked. Because CK3 is not released yet.I mostly agree, but gameplay unlocks *within the same game* (IE unlocking CK3 content by doing things in CK3) is okay IMO. Of course, that does mean it must "be in the actual game" per your statement. It's the "you must play a completely different game to get full value in this game" that's more questionable.
Having cosmetic stuff I can get for free by playing the old game instead of paying for it? Awesome!
Having cosmetic stuff I can ONLY get by playing the old game? HELL NAW.
So if the time comes where it's confirmed that these cosmetics are locked behind CK2, I will be mad with you, my friend. I just have no reason to suspect that's the case, so--for right now--I don't care.
