I don't understand the problem. If you are on 2.2.x, the sector does nothing until you tell it to, and you have to manually give it resources to build with. As I understand it, you get all the resources from a sector unless you specifically give it some and switch it on.

I believe this is OP's problem. Constantly checking if your sectors still have "money" is annoying; since you originally turned them over to sector control precisely because you don't want to deal with them yourself.
And with the ridiculous amount of sectors we get in 2.2 it's only made worse.

Could be solved via UI
You could set up a monthly transfer of resources to sectors, until sector stockpile reaches a certain maximum value that you would set.

That way you wouldn't have to constantly ckeck on them, and they wouldn't suddenly empty your mineral stash without warning.

Sorry, completely misread the complaint as being the exact opposite, which was why I was confused. Too early in the morning, clearly.

Two dozen sectors mean two dozen stockpiles to play with and that's a load of headache. The point of automation is to make things easier and there's nothing easy about searching through all your sectors to find out which ones need resources. Not only that but the sector stockpile is just a black box with a number (you don't know what's actually in there) and there's NO REFUNDS.

The sector system is still pretty damn bad. All it needed was
- one stockpile
- freely move resources in and out of stockpile (with an auto transfer for AI)
- stockpile uses your existing empire storage limits.

Would be nice if we could allow sectors to draw from the main pool into the stockpile when the stockpile was empty. We could add custom conditions like it can't draw if the main isn't big enough or running a deficit.

Also the sector size should be bigger, 2 is too small IMO should be like 3 or 4

A monthly deposit with a cap on how much can be in the stockpile before it stops the transfer would be great. So would being able to redraw sectors with a limit on how many colonized systems can be in a sector (to avoid the megasectors I used to make now that governors are balanced to have limited reach).

Just please don't bring back the old sectors. It was extremely frustrating losing 25% of my income to the sector stockpile and had to pay influence to access it.

You do know you could have set the tax rate to 0% right?

That is best resolved using a hidden (or unhidden) and the monthly pulse. Quite simple to set up actually.
Getting the planetary/ sector governors to build effectively. Same problem as the other nation AIs.
I am looking at this over Christmas to see if I can figure out a good general model to base multiple AI personas on. Something Maslow based but incorporating cultural values and leader mandates. Not going to be easy I suspect...

You do know you could have set the tax rate to 0% right?

When I say "lose 25% of my income" I'm referring to the maximum amount you could automatically take from the sector. You could choose to take 0, 25, 50, or 75% of their resources, but you couldn't ever take 100%. Even taking the max resulted in enormous stockpiles late game that would have been put to better use by me using them, rather than the sector sitting on them.
