It is stupid as hell. My character had - 100 tyranny bonus so I decided to revoke some titles, commit suicide and give them away as my son. Everything would be fine if my f-ing council couldn't vote in this matter. They disagree to give titles to anyone so I have choice between having too many titles or huge tyranny penalty for granting titles by myself
Ridiculous...
;<

PS i mean that my council is against every possible candidate for title.

If your council has the authority over title granting, they should always present a candidate that they wish the title to go to, otherwise you should suffer no demesne limit penalty since your council consider that you should be the one holding those titles.

It was said from the beginning that The Conclave was released to make the game more challenging. There are ways around the council, but you have to actually WORK for it. Buy favors. Exchange favors (last resort). Appoint loyalists to the council, or grant land to the landless members of your council. Just think, if you were on the council, and you were poor/penniless and wanted land, would YOU be so happy to watch your liege hand out titles to everyone but you? I know I wouldn't...

Why not ask a vassal to help you out in dealing with the problem? You have options available to you, you just choose to ignore or not use them.

I would like to buy favors but people hate me because I have too many titles that I can't give away. That's bullishit. All council abilities should be disabled by default. At least granting titles. It's ahistorical and stupid. Why my vassals that aren't in council think that I am a tyrant because I did something that my council didn't like.

This game was supposed to be fun sandbox, not hardcore stuff for bdsm EU4 elitists.

One thing that may work well for you - examine your council for who has voting favors on who. Usually you'll have at least one person Spidering their way across the council. Even Malcontents will vote for giving advantages to themselves - so if you're willing to dump land on whoever has the most influence, they should be able to get the rest of assent to them having said land.

Council doesn't let you give titles away because they hate you for having too many titles? I seriously don't know why would people defend catch-22 rules.

There's a pretty clear option here, though - it sounds like you need to kick those landless blaggards off your council, and replace them with good landed gents you can buy off by handing out duchies.

Council doesn't let you give titles away because they hate you for having too many titles? I seriously don't know why would people defend catch-22 rules.

Well, people have given some of the solutions. Here are some extra reasons why they don't want you to give away the titles...

1) You're not giving it to them, their friend, or their relative. You've still got too many titles though, so they hate you - because you've got titles you could give to them.

2) You want to give it to a rival, or potential rival of theirs. Obviously if they can they'll block that.

Now, you have options available - usually if you find someone on the council who is owed favours by other councillors you will be able to either give the title to them, or to a relative of theirs. If not, it's bribery time. Whilst you've got them bribed, it's time to get a law moved in your favour as well.

I love that feature. I always loved the challenge of playing with a hostile council and trying to break its power.

I remember once i had troubles with the council and i couldnt get any favours from them (for various reasons) in order to pass my desired laws so i took more drastic measures.

I sacked the entire Council (councillors had superb stats but they were a pain in my royal ass) and replaced them with loyalists and family members so when i said "jump" to them their only response was "how high Mylord?". Well they had shitty stats but at least they were doing as told and didnt cause me a headache.

However i got murdered 1.5 year later by my former Spymaster and the regency that followed my death reversed my decisions and Council regained its power.

It was an epic game!

Using the More Councillors mod, I kept the power to grant titles and essentially turned my council into my empire's version of the English / British House of Lords. Since the Peer minor title in my mod confers a seat on my council onto the holder, I can use the power of granting titles as a source of patronage and thus keep my direct vassals from getting any "ideas" above their station. If by chance some duke / grand mayor is dumb enough to start a faction and I happen to have some dirt on them, I can refuse to grant them the Peer minor title and instead throw them in jail. The key here is keep the title grant power in your ruler's hands. Furthermore if you're a kingdom / empire level feudal, iqta, or republican ruler you can use the More Councillors mod combined with the vanilla actions to keep your direct vassals onside.
