Please Paradox make Byzantium playable and fun, like it was in 1.3 and 1.4.

Ottoman is killing me every game now and I don't know what to do! There was ways to survive in last patches, but now its too hard in my opinion. I'm not good at this game, but playing byzantium was fun.
Please do some changes. Crying, whining, boohoo

I have to say I agree, I've tried multiple strategies and they all seem to end with my demise around 1500's at the latest. I can actually hold the Ottomans in a stalemate at Achea if I scorch the land because they will not bring their troops in to attack at all, but then I just sit at 20 war exhaustion forever with exactly 2 units alive, one to scorch Morea if they come by sea and one for Achea for land. I could potentially hold out forever, but honestly it's boring. Need to make it so Moldavia doesn't give stupid military access to Crimea and Ottomans, maybe make different religions less likely or not likely at all to give military access. It's incredibly counter-intuitive that a christian nation would give a couple of huge Sunni deathsquads military access just for kicks.

Or even better, have Moldavia be hostile towards the Ottomans and Crimea. That'd be slightly more accurate and then it wouldn't matter that the Ottomans always make sure Moldavia likes them by sending them a diplomat for the entire first century.

At first, vassalize Serbia, then Bosnia, put your army over maximum and get good alies.

One thing though - AI often warns you not go to war, but this is very inconsistent. When it warns you at start (while he is at war with Albania), it has never any effect - you just go and conquer Serbia and Bosnia. But I lost 2 times just because I tried to conquer Wallachia lately - both times I thought that Ottomans would be too busy with their wars, but, surprisingly, both times they responded and attacked me. I don't understand this behavior - AI does not attack you despite of having cores, but when you attack someone under warning, AI joins, even though it has its war going.

Overall, it is real, but I always have feeling that my troops are illusionary. Ottomans just wipe them out.

I've had success with the same strategy used in 1.4 with the exception that you can't use the vassal Albania trick any more. Having P-L as an ally and Serbia + Bosnia as vassals seemed to keep the OE at bay for a while and once war broke out having a 4:1 advantage in men meant that I could win even without naval supremacy.

How in the hell do you have a 4:1 advantage in men, even with Hungary, Bosnia, Serbia and Wallachia I'm barely on-par for troops and they wipe the floor with the inferior eastern units. Even my superior navy gets destroyed by the combined Algerian/Crimean/Ottoman death navy.

I can never get Poland to ally either, they seem to never even get good enough for a royal marriage.

Just like the Burgandy king is supposed to die, there is supposed to be a personal union for Aragon under Castille, Spain and France are supposed to try and conquer Italy, England is supposed to lose the Hundred years war, etc etc.

Seriously guys. Byzantium is in an awful position in 1444 and not meant to conquer the world. Wait for a start 1399 DLC (EU III start date) in order to conquer the world as Byzantium.

Have you tried randomly attacking a small nation and setting up a 'government in exile'?

I Know others have figured out Byzantine survival in 1.5, but I haven't and Aragon slaughters me if I go for Urbino, if it isn't Aragon it then becomes Hungary who allies with Urbino then declares war.

You can always, with almost every nation in Europe, simply DoW on Urbino or East Frisia and join the HRE. It's the most consistent and easiest (read: safest) path to win with any given doomed OPM.

Aragon doesn't always ally with Urbino all the time. Around 40% of the time I would say.

Also, Hungary rarely allies with Urbino and is of little help to them. They might join the war but you can still demand annexation of Urbino the moment you conquer them due to the fact that there is no War Goal. Then, Hungary offers white peace a few moments later since they cannot get MA and have a weaker fleet. You also get bonus relationship with Austra/Portugal for being at war with rival!

Or, you restart until nobody allies Urbino which is hardly rare.

No urbino or shenanigans in the straits in there. We won with the pure might of the Roman armies [and Castillian (we backstabbed those cause they were first in score and Africa is OURS), and Hungarian and Aragonese and Polish).

Don't bother with Albania. Get the acces from Ragusa and conquer Serbia/Bosnia.
