Actually, minus the snark, yes. Deciding what to automate and what to make the player actually pay attention to is an important design choice. knul is right:

The Curia minigame is tedious, requires little to no strategy while still a necessity for Catholic players as the rewards are significant enough. Make the minigame require real though and reduce the time required for it: it's a small part of the overall game and shouldn't require too much attention from the player.
