The title says it all. I am so over having to routinely put points into my chosen cardinal because if I dont I lose all points spent so far. How easy would it be to enable us to designate a particular candidate(s) to put points into , and have it be done automatically.

While your at it do the same for Vicky 2's sphere of influence mini game also - both are needless micromanagement that add little but a constant irritation. And occasional rage.

Thanks in advance!

Some times i think im the only one who likes the cardinal mini game ;p

I dont dislike the concept or want it removed from the game - rather would like it to be less clicking every 2 mins to make sure my cardinal remains mine. A simple priority setting for each candidate would work. No need to remove the feature , those that like the micromanagement can keep it as it is now.

I'd just be happy with buttons that let me invest more than 5 points at a time.

No thanks. I play at speed 1, day by day, so I don't mind the micromanagement.

Then don't use it. The attitude of 'it wouldn't inconvenience me in any way, but i wouldn't use it, so it's a terrible idea' is way too prevalent on these forums.

Isn't this already automated?

With the Curia, a simple greedy algorithm that takes control of a candidate as soon as it is possible to do so (whichever candidate is cheapest) would work well enough and be very simple to implement. I don't see why Paradox hasn't done this by now. After all, there is already a notification that pops up to tell you that you can buy a cardinal, so this would just be automatically carrying out a suggestion that the game already makes.

Yess! Implementation of this feature would be great. Of course, you'd still have to monitor papal screen every now and then if you want optimal takeover of the curia and that is fair but automation would definitely help with the tedious clickings.

The drop-down alert is a perfectly satisfactory concession to convenience.

That and the pop-up set to pause whenever I lose control of a cardinal.

I agree. Further improvements should never be made, unlesss the current system makes your hands bleed.

Isn't this already automated?

Maybe it has been - its been a while since I played Vicky. From memory you could automate which spheres you distributed points to but you had to manually spend those points. This resulted in a system that is much like the current Curia game - constant tedious clicking to ensure you didnt lose your sphere. Even then Vicky had more options on how to spend points so the automation argument was less strong there.

Less micro - greater fun.
Good examples is Vicky 2 with sphering, difference between HoI 2 and 3 in spy system, or all games with manually clicking to improve relations, and EU IV envoy system.

Personally I convert to protestant, or I invest in one, or two cardinals once per few years...

While automating would be great, I think it's a sign of a badly designed element. If players would rather have something in a game automated away rather than playing with it...

The Curia minigame is tedious, requires little to no strategy while still a necessity for Catholic players as the rewards are significant enough. Make the minigame require real though and reduce the time required for it: it's a small part of the overall game and shouldn't require too much attention from the player.
