I’m intrigued by the news of this feature. I wonder if it will be possible to reform Catholicism to a point where the crusades are never launched.

In CK2, crusades are hardcoded to fire given certain conditions, but always after 1100 iirc.

A pacifist or at least a non-interventionist Catholicism could be interesting to play or witness.

Dynamic Religions is very good option. If Paradox implement this option, we will can create our own religion. For example, you have a powerful realm, but Catholic Church is limits your authority. You can create your own religion with your own rules.

It won‘t be an optional feature. You may be able to change the cost and frequency of it but that should be it. The fluent belief system seems to be a core pillar of CKIII so disabling it would shut down a huge part of the game.

This whole thread is so pointless, given it was stated the AI will not create crazy heresies on its own, only historical ones. So if you don't want to see cannibalistic Christians, just don't make them.

Depends on how you define dramatically. It would be boring if the player would be the only one to create heresies/change the religion.
AI will create historical heresies only. Players are only ones that can make incest loving, polygamous, cannibal Christianity. Don't want to see that, don't make it. Geez people should read article more closely.

AI is not going to ahistorically dramatically change religions, it's an option for human player
And this is based on what?

This whole thread is so pointless, given it was stated the AI will not create crazy heresies on its own, only historical ones. So if you don't want to see cannibalistic Christians, just don't make them.
Where was this stated?

Where was this stated?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKi...k3_devs_for_over_two_hours/f4uo07f/?context=3

"The new Doctrines and Tenets are being used to represent more historically accurate versions of real heresies like Catharism. The AI will found these, and they are weighted to appear at the place and time they did historically. The AI will stick to founding historical heresies and won't abuse the system to create random weird ones. That's the player's job."

Basically this thread is about a non issue. If you dont use dynamic religions then it's a disabled feature.

Damn, we do love incest here in our little community, don't we (looking at posts, where people are excited to change catholicism into divine marriage religion). Devs can take deus vult, devs can decide to not include some DLC aspects from CK2 but if they ever remove incest - well the peasants (us) would riot :)

Maybe have "theological" event chains evolve the faith.
My idea is (the following is intended as an example and my knowledge of heresies is sewerly limited so it will be simplistic and likely partly wrong):
1. You play as a greek in Anatolia
2. You get an event that influenced by the muslims the question of praying before icons is more and more often raised. You can be not interested or take a side.
3. Some time later the church will make an official stand. This should depend heavily on the emperor and the patriarch. If they are on the same opinion it should win. If not... some interestic mechanic but I have no idea what. Either way the church will either embrace the new idea - and iconoclasm will become the official doctrine - or reject it. You can: a. Rejoice if they choose the same as you. b. If you are cynical not really interested go the official way. c. disagree but dont dare to do it openly - you become secret heretic. d. Become openly a heretic.
4. Likely civil war.

The same for any main heresies.
