Multiple crises per game would be nice. Multiple at once sounds a bit over the top. Imagine, 100 years after defeating the scourge, the ai rise up. Years later when the galaxy is seemingly headed for total unification, the undbidden arrive and begin annihilating everything. They could even add more crises and possibly make the shroud mini crisis an actual invasion of psionic beings.

This is exactly what this change is supposed to add to game - more interesting, more diversified and longer lategame

Adding a single toggle that allows sadomasochistic players to gleefully send the galaxy into chaos would NOT be difficult at all. It would merely involve removing/replacing the restriction when toggled. Comparing this to entirely rejiggering the AI is rather silly.

Seems like a nice addition for those of us with more masochistic tendencies. If they have time down the road perhaps they should include it as an option.
Sure mods and console commands can do it, but why not make it part of the game. Not everybody uses mods. If it'll make the game better then best add it.
I imagine it will be rather easy to implement, or is that not the case?

Wiz said a while back that multiple crises in one game introduces bugs, but he never gave any examples so I don't know if it's a minor "can be fixed with a bit of effort" type deal or "have to rebuild the game from scratch" mega bugs.

If it's not too much work I would certainly love multiple crises in one game.

Although there are mods that give this, you can't get achievements with mods active(I think).

Even if you could, it'd be really neat to get a achievement for pushing back all three criseseses, though a balancing issue of having to wait maybe 40 years before another Crisis can be triggered, which not even the mod has coded. Though something like this is definitely for masochists only.

I know that I risk sounding hypocritical when I say "I would like to have that option", considering I was on the "do whatever is easier to balance" side of the debate regarding FTL.

My main issue is more with the crises happening too early and offering not a lot of meat, gameplay dynamics wise. They don't change everything about the galactic dynamic as they should, they just add one additional challenge to overcome. Maybe if they were more involving and offered more *variation* (e.g. variants of the invaders with different agendas, maybe an additional crisis that is more about infiltrating and enslaving existing empires rather than creating a new blob, Shadows/Drakh from Babylon 5 style) I wouldn't mind there only being one per game.

Yes, I would like at least an option for more crises to happen at the same time. I think its fun watching 2 crises fight each other. :)

I dunno, folks. You already kind of have multiple crises. Go ahead and cut a deal with the End of the Cycle while the Contingency is active. There's your multiple crises right there.

@GloatingSwine mentioned testing crises against each other. Can you spawn the End of the Cycle from the console? I'd love to see that 4 way contest.

Yea, it would be nice to have in vanilla, the game is balanced around default-ish settings, so we masochists just want the option. The various crisis factions do well enough vs each other, and if players don't like it, they can just elect to not opt in.

The event to make the covenant is 'utopia.3308' ('utopia.3320' is the activation event, but it may not work properly without the covenant, or will be weaksauce from no shroudmarked planets).

Hmmm, tag swap to another powerful empire and make the pact, then tag swap back to your empire and let nature take its course. If I don't feel like waiting 50 years, trigger the second event immediately after confirming planets are shroud marked.

I might try that.

Yea keep in mind the empire you give the covenant will be like double power while marked. If it's the large fanatical purifier neighbor, you might not make it 50 yrs.

In that case, merely marking another empire with the End of the Cycle covenant will make for a great challenge, one worthy of a Klingon!

There's no point. If it you can defeat one crisis you can defeat the others.

Crisis are supposed to shake things up, but fundamentally the game is about the regular empires. Multiple crisis is like a tv show that went 2 seasons too long. If you're stronger than everyone else and a crisis has been defeated, well, gg. you won.

Hmmm, tag swap to another powerful empire and make the pact, then tag swap back to your empire and let nature take its course. If I don't feel like waiting 50 years, trigger the second event immediately after confirming planets are shroud marked.

I might try that.

There's a command which generates a mature galaxy (basically skips forward 100 years).

Also you can go to observe mode and run the galaxy by itself for a few years.

I like this idea too and use the multiple crisis mod myself sometimes. I dont think that we will see multiple crisis option in vanilla at 2.0, but I hope for it in one of the 2.? versions. It needs some work (balancing and anti-buggin them against each other) and I cant stand any more waiting for 2.0!
