Just a short request after listening to the three new tracks:
Please hire the music composer of the Heirs of Alexander tracks again, when you add new music in the future. Imo the best pieces of music in I:R :)
Especially the track "Unsung Heroes" is excellent!

Jonatan Järpehag has done all of the music for the game. Every bit of it. It's not like there was a different composer just for the latest 3 tracks.

Apparently this is incorrect. My mistake.

That may be incorrect. Or I don't know what sense to make of this:

That track does sound rad.

But to be honest after experiencing CK3 sound design I can't play much with a traditional movie soundtrack OST, hearing the same songs dozens of times during a single campaign. CK3 approach of atmospheric ambient with a rare thematic emotional piece suits the genre much more.

It’s great music, the factor that needs work is the ‘trigger’ for music to play as that could do with a bit of a reshuffle and the tempo of the music could vary more.

At the moment the tempo of the music for a song like Red Sun can play in the middle of the war, and it really doesn’t fit the situation. A lot of these songs should only play during peace time, the new dlc music has a very different tone (it reminds me of Hollywood epics). It’s more upbeat with the trumpets in one song in particular, it’s called the ‘Moment of The Battle’.

Going forward if they could add more songs that give a bit more of an adrenaline rush that play when you’re at war that would be great. Like gladiator’s ‘Barbarian Horde’,

Absolutely agree! In Rome Total War 1 this was already the case in a very simple way. They had tracks for the campaign map and tracks for the 3D battles separated into pre combat music (when the armies marched against each other) and combat music.

And with the new informations about the composer:
Please hire Hakan Glänte again! :D

According to the information here, a new composer was hired. To some extent I thought it, because the style of the three new tracks changed somewhat - imo in a better direction.
That doesn't mean of course that the music from Jonatan Järpehag was bad, but I like the tracks from Glänte more.

I think Jarpehag could be making more peace time music (like Oceanus and Red Sun) wile Glante could be making more war music (like Unsung Heroes and Moment of Battle)

I think it would come up as the right mix!

Yeah like this. It doesn't even need to be too detailed, for instance at peace and constructing buildings will be the trigger for the older tracks to play, but raising a levy or legion will trigger the new music to play. Getting stackwiped will be the trigger for a really tragic track to play as well as losing a war, but winning a battle or war will trigger a really pumped up inspirational track to play.

If you have the dlc there's a bug in 2.01 that stops them from playing as they were removed from the proper folder. If you look through the bug reports forum a few pages back there's a fix there somewhere

Edit you need to go to ImperatorRome>game>music and copy the following and then paste it at the bottom of your music.txt document, (courtesy of Halv5 in that thread)

Guys any tips on how to get the Soundtrack to play sequentially rather than the “Context Sensitive” way the game does it, because I don’t think I’ve heard any of the new tracks. Always the same 3 or 4 over and over again, this has been a problem since Day 1 and the fact it’s never been addressed is frustrating.

As someone else said, Crusader Kings III puts Imperator to shame when it comes to the gameplay soundtrack experience. It’s a shame because Imperator’s music is easily some of the best in a Paradox game.
