The way it used to work in 1.7 was that you would have to choose between different focuses for each habitat. My main decision was between mining habitats and research habitats, if I made a research habitat then it meant I wouldn't be making more minerals, which was a fine trade because I could just build more ringworlds with mining buildings (I don't have a problem with no Mining Districts on Ring Worlds). However now Research districts have a mineral COST to build, which means after you build just a couple of habitats you will rapidly deteriorate your mineral growth. In 1.7 the fact you could have mining buildings on a habitat that you constructed with your own minerals was explained with the building description saying you were mining the asteroids around the planet and the planet below.
Please let us have this again, habitats are much less valuable now.

that'd be Ancient Relics which is 2.3 bare minimum

we won't see that update til sometime next year (assuming they stay on track to get us Expansion Pass 3 by the end of this year which still has Distant Stars and Megacorp)

I imagine they'll put Lithoids in EP 3 as a pre-order, as far as I'm aware tgat's another species pack which is in line with the way they release these DLC's

I feel like they'll wait a while before updating so they can jump us up a whole bunch like they did with 1.7-2.2, so it might take another 6 months or something but I feel like that's what they're going for
we don't have a current set time stamp for when expansion pass 3 will hit
as far as we know though it is only bringing in Distant Stars and Megacorp. the last 2 remnants of the 2.2 update we're missing

to give us Lithoids as well could possibly break the game, they aren't just cosmetic like Plantoids but they aren't like Machines where you get a new government
they kind of fit in the middle; and as i said there are changes to the game that happen in the updates between 2.2 and 2.5 (where Lithoids were introduced)

Yeah but they'll likely include Lithoids as a pre-order, the same way they did with Apocalypse.

that wouldn't make sense though as a pre-order

we probably won't see expansion pass 4 til next year (probably around apr or may at the earliest) and that is heavily assuming they are still on track to give us pass 3 by the end of this year

Why would it not make sense as a pre-order? It worked for Apocalypse, we didn't get that right away, even pass owners had to wait a month to get that

because as I have stated multiple times, that you don't seem to understand

LITHOIDS IS NOT PART OF THE 2.2 UPDATE

it is after 2.3 (the console version of the game is sitting at 2.2.7 right now)

there were various changes/additions to the game between the 2.3 and 2.5 update

to add in (even as a pre-order) something that is basically 7 patches away from what we currently have could viably break the game

Depends on if they implement the code into the game preemptively which they don't have to do. Don't they sell the access codes to the DLCs rather than the DLCs themselves? If they had it as a pre-order, they could just release it when it's ready, so we still get 3 items in as a pass and they don't have to break the game

No, the DLC's are being released in the same sequence as they were released on pc, lithoids will not be released before the 2.5 update which is the last major update in the Ancient relics block (2.3 - 2.5)

No, I don't think you're getting me.

I'm not saying we're going to get Lithoids at 2.2, I'm saying we're going to be able to make the purchase in 2.2 so that *when it rolls around* we'll get it. I know it won't be *released* in 2.2, that's not what I'm saying. The expansion passes so far have given us 3 items per pass for £25, I doubt they'll only include 2 in the next one.

No, the next expansion pass will be distant stars and megacorp are the last 2 DLC since the required updates (2.1, 2.2) are already done and released, the Ancient Relics (2.3 - 2.5) hasn't even been announced for consoles yet and if it does it won't be until at least 2022 given the way things are going atm with covid-19 since Tantalus is based in Melbourne and has only 30 employees.

you won't be able to pre-order the dlc until the base updates are done and the DLC is near completion.

expansion pass 3 will be Distant stars and megacorp
expansion pass 4 will be ancient relics and lithoids (ancient relics block only has 2 DLC)

Ok, when I say "pre-order", I don't mean "give it us early" or "let us download it".I mean list it in the pass on the store as something you'll get when it's done in the future. Literally in the description section for the pass, they can just have a line of text saying "Owners of Expansion Pass 3 will get the Lithoids DLC in the future game builds"

Pass 3 actually. The only significant changes between Patch 2.2 and Patch 2.7 were the Relics system and the new Diplomacy system. Given the complexity of the changes of 2.2 compared to every update up until 2.7 I would hazard a guess that we might end up updating to 2.7 within a year (conservative guess), though that entirely depends on whether Victoria pulls its act together.

they said that pass 2 was only going to be apoc, sythnetic dawn and humanoids
