I read in the DD18 that the diplomatic deals from Vic1 will be no more. King said he considered them the most abused feature of Vic1. I tend to agree.

But there are some things which I really, really really liked in Vic1... namely, the possibility to "correct" manually some of the AI stupidity with in the game, such as giving up on-contiguous territory in peace deals.

So, dear King, can you implement for us console codes that allow a transfer of provinces (and money) the way it was possible in diplo deals in Vic1?

like:
F12 --> "secedeprovince RUSS 412 425 537" to pass ownership of provinces 412, 425 and 537 from their previous owner to Russia?
or
F12 --> "secedecontrol SERB 500 501 502" to pass control (not ownership) of provinces 500, 501 and 502 to Serbia?

This would be most useful for example if you fight a war together with the Netherlands, and you want the Serbia to be able to broker a separate peace with your enemy and take all their core provinces. This was not possible in Vic1 and an IMMENSE source for annoyment when I played the game. I frankly hated it that I could not broker separate peace deals for my minor allies (f.ex. Russia, Serbia and Hungary vs. Austria) and give them territory.

Also I sometimes found myself in possession of land which I would have liked to turn over to an ally or other country. This was only possible through diplo deals.

Those kind of console codes would also be immensely useful in multiplayer games, where you often negotiate sweeping land deals as part of peace agreements. The game host should in this case be the one doing the province editing in-game.

Those console codes do allow a bit of a human advantage over the AI (you can use it to turn territory over to your co-belligerents, the AI can't) but since this game is supposed to be FUN, could the idea at least be considered? Please? :)

If you don't want the land in a peace deal, don't ask for it as a war goal.

That's true, however, often one wants to slightly adjust a wonky peace-settlement, or split conquered territory with an ally, à la the partitions of Poland (slightly before the game's time-frame, I know, but you get what I mean).

It also gives laymen a limited modding capability, say if they want to play a scenario in which country X had never lost province Y or whatever, and can't/don't want to mess with the text files and code it in themselves.

You can't just assume people are going to use it to cheat - and even if they are, it's not your place to condemn them for it. More power to the player is always a good thing, replayability-value-wise.

Could be a nice tool to correct some very strange results of AI wars, like Japan conquering provs in Finland etc. Sometimes if I can't stand some of this I edit my savegame. With such code, it would be much easier to correct borders, so I like the idea very much.

If you want to split territory with an ally in a peace then your ally needs to state a war goal that they want that territory.

Well that sounds a lot better than Vic1, thanks for the clarification. :)

But still, what if I *first* annex a lot of land from, say, Turkey, *then*, liberate Serbia or Montenegro, and then want to hand over additional provinces to them?

For example I might want to give Serbia all of Albania and northern Greece, just for fun, or because I want to roleplay a Pan-Slavic Imperial Russia.

In Vic1 I could do this with a diplo deal... trade provinces to Serbia for nothing. How can I do this in Vic2? Please don't tell me it's not possible... :( roleplaying empires was 90% of the fun for me in that game... not building socialdemocrat Scandinavian-type welfare states.

Its not only for the player. Often the AI tends to screw up land conquests, it would be nice to be able to edit that ingame instead of doing it in a save.

I cannot possible imagine it being hard to implement...

Really, please come down to the office and explain to the programmers how easy it will be.

I do not realy think that Pdox should waste their resources on a mechanic that would only be usefull for cheats when there are som many many many more important things. And realy, I someone is bothered by some borders, Im sure there will be plenty of people on the forums ready to tell that person how to edit the save file anywas

debug commands to move province ownership betweeen countries. It is a bit messy to be honest. I started to think to myself just how to structure the command and it started to get messy just there.

Consider it a challenge, an opportunity to improve your abilities on this field. I believe it is a highly sought for feature. Think you can find a freelancer for that?

naw, we won't be wasting precious coding time on this. We have more important things like getting the AI to want sensible provinces in a peace to avoid needing a command like this at all higher up the agenda. It was more of an intellectual challenge than anything else.

Well, rather than having to code province transfers, why not just have the old 'open negotiations' button, and a neville command like in Vicky 1?

That way, players can buy/sell provinces, and/or correct awkward borders as they see fit.

It'll be good having an AI that doesn't take awkward provinces in the first place, but by the same token it would be nice to have some mechanism for acquiring or disposing of provinces without having to fight for them.

The whole point is that there wont be any negotiations for provinces. The reason stated is that the ai was so bad at handling that the exploits were more of an immersion breaker then the loss of the option full sale.

Well when someone wants to willingly exploit any flaws and ruin his experience, then let him. I frankly never undersood, why it is such important to get rid of those things. Such games are not ment to be perfect unbreakable system designed for world cup competition. It is supposed to be fun...
