Please get rid of the disagree button

I am currently removing the ability to see who left what, as I hope this will alleviate post stocking concerns some have expressed.

I might have missed an argument, but how is that a solution to anything ?

Can still happen, but might reduce the ability for the 'victim' to retrace/comprehend why this happens and by whom.
That would mean i was right initially.


edit: Above is only right, as long as we can still see initally who disagreed with our post in the alerts.
Disabling the name in the alerts as well would be the logical consequence or it would be half-baked.

Please switch it back to normal, it's silly. Ofc abuse should be dealt with, BUT that doesn't mean the majority of normal users should also be punished. I came here after noticing the change. Next time make a sticky or something and let people know decisions like these are being taken behind everyone backs.

FWIW disagreeing (via the button) seems to be way down on the forums since the change to "respectfully disagree", which is a good thing as far as I can see. However, this may be just because I've only been posting ont the HOI4 forum where most posters sensibly hold to a gentlemen's agreement not to use it. You do still see newbies getting pile-on "disagreed" though.

EDIT: I'm no longer receiving alerts for agrees/disagrees, even with the preference turned on. Is this intentional?

I'm not even sure how these changes were supposed to address the problem. The issue is that a disagree button exists, not that it wasn't "respectful" and not that we knew the names of those who disagree with us. A disagree button in any form discourages intelligent discussion and attracts trollish spam.

"Respectfully Disagree" seems to be much more passive-aggressive than simple "disagree".

Also, it's not really "respectfully disagreeing" if I then proceed to tell you how you're wrong. That's just regular disagreement. Respectfully disagreeing with someone implies a sort of "agree to disagree" sort of arrangement.

Why would I want to come at you? I'd much rather have a cup of tea and find out more about why your experiences have led you to believe others disrespect you when they disagree with your opinions. It would be more disrespectful to treat you like you knew and had experienced everything, than to treat you like others or myself who are simply the best fist they can of what they're given. I value those who feel free and care enough to set me straight or suggest a different approach, and all the more when for them it's not about my worth as a person.

Button use is just down period. It was a nice feature. Fortunately, someone saw that and managed to put an end to it.

You mean the OT forum where agree/disagree buttons were never a thing?

Frankly I love the buttons, we just perhaps need more. I would like a range of them to allow for more subtlety. Not sure how to spell that out, but just my opinion.

It was for a short while, but then quickly removed due to abuses.

This being the case, the additional and later change of not being able to access the list of agrees/disagrees cannot be due to OT.

Of course not, and personally, knowing that, I would rather say that this thread was the cause of it, amongst other issues with some other members had. But even if I dislike the change personally, I think Castellon has a better picture of what is the best setup.
