I'm not usually a forum poster but I felt strongly compelled to try and get this message to the developers. Please, for the love of goodness, do something about this leader cap. My suggestion would be to have it scale upwards like the star base cap does. Seems simplest. I strongly dislike it. I have examples of why, but in the interest of brevity I will say "available upon request". This update really killed how I play and enjoy the game.

Alternatively is there a way to go back to 3.7 until this fix/change comes? I would like to keep playing until they address this.

Side note: If there is a Stellaris specific thread this can be moved to that would be swell. <--- Fixed this :)

If you're using Steam, you can roll back to 3.7 by going into the betas tab and selecting the version to which you want to roll back.

Not sure how you feel about mods, but I understand there are a number of mods that adjust or remove the leader cap. Perhaps that might be an alternative to rolling back to 3.7?

Aye I use a mod that increase the limit to 50. First 20-30 years is exploration for me and can have as much as 10 ships out. But you was far above limit and no exp gained on your scientists so mod helped very much. But when hire so many scientists they also die around same time and ended up with lots of survey ships not in use because of the 2 scientists in recruitment and 5 years in refresh. Used another mod that increased leader pool to 5 and 2 years refresh.

You can use the leader cap removal mod, but scaling upkeep is brutal during the early game. At most I fielded 4 scientists and 1 governor without falling behind even with Parliamentary Society... I feel this whole thing has just not been well designed.

It's not just you. The leader cap system is widely hated. If steam reviews are anything to go buy, you're probably solidly in the majority. The expansion has mixed reviews that almost exclusively call out the leader cap as being the problem, and even half of the positive reviews hate on the leader cap.

Fencing a large area off, when initially expanding on a 1000 star system, on grand admiral no scaling, is really frustrated now. Is it possible they made this change bc the AI couldn't keep up with that level of aggressive expansion? I was tending to win that expansion war in most play throughs, despite what I guess you could call max difficulty.

If that's why they changed it I guess I'd counter with, why not just polish up the AI. I'm sure they could improve it if they put their shoulder into it. Maybe that's a naive assumption.

I saw what I assume is a PDX employee posting that they think it has improved the gameplay. They/he really seem doubled down on not changing it back based on that read, which is a real bummer. Another assumption, for them to think that it's a good idea that improves the gameplay experience I assume they don't play 1000 star systems. I wonder if they actually play their game recreationally.

As an aside from it killing the way I tend to play the game it seriously triggers my OCD having all these open slots. I really hope they roll it back/fix it lightning fast. Couldn't bring myself to roll my update back, yet. That can't be my long term solution. I guess I'm on a little pause.
