Re-read what you underlined and you will understand what i had said , the companies are terrible and people know that but i personally never saw their games being called garbage and unplayable because of their practices

I have seen that. But it's the internet and people say all sort of nonsense for the keks and just out of anger. Some places are cesspools where people will say just about anything ridiculous and vitriolic.

They should have not taken their customer for granted then.

The one line out of the bible I can actually respect "Do not do upon others what thy does not wish done upon them self".

May they go bankrupt for this. Deus vult!

All I know is that currently I can buy 2015 Game of The Year, a game widely recognized to be one of the best games ever made - Witcher 3 Wild Hunt including all DLC's for 24,99 euros. For that money I can get 2 older DLC's for Europa Universalis IV and maybe a sprite pack. You can spin it how you want, but at the end of the day I feel ripped off. Its like fancy bottled water - I can afford it, I even might buy it for lack of other options, but I still think its stupid.

CD Projekt Red has sold 20 Million copies of the Witcher 3 as of June 9th 2015 ,your beloved CD Projekt red is trying to Maximize profit, it isn't anything that they're doing "because of the fanbase", EU IV has sold one million copies as of the 21st of June 2016 ,it has a smaller market aswell so take that into consideration , The Witcher 3 doesn't get constant free updates that change the game and add new stuff to it as a whole (i know there are small portions of the game that have nothing do to with the main game that still get updates (Gwent)) ,EU IV being developed by a smaller studio , constantly getting updates that upgrade the game beyond release day quality unlike many AAA games everyone here keeps comparing it to for some reason justifys the price staying the same , since as you may know Paradox has a dedicated team working on EU IV at all times , a game we all love is given love because this dlc policy exists ,everything has a reason and there are things that wouldn't be available to us the consumer if it was any different.
Also the replayability of EU IV in comparison to the Witcher 3 makes it worth it and i do not understand why everyone keeps comparing the 2 since they cannot be compared is everyone stupid or what?

not fall down to the standards of the industry with "everyone does that so we should do too" bullshit they said some days ago.
When have they said that? Or are you referring to the justification for raising the rices? Because if so then that's not just the game industry, but the entire economy which uses that argument.

EA was voted Worst Company in America *twice*. Beating Bank of America in both 2012 and 2013, in the latter by a landslide.
What was it that lead them to get that? Sim City 5?

CD Projekt Red is not "my belowed" I don't really care who makes stuff I use. Im just a guy who plays EUIV from time to time and who upon noticing there is Steam sale going on checked the DLC page to get his game up to date and got baffled by the fact how much monies are needed for that. Maybe Paradox pricing is entirely justified, but apparently many developers can manage to make and sell DLC's without customers feeling cheated. Also I dont know anything about game development, but to a layman like me it seems that making a game like Witcher is more expensive enterprise then making a game like EU IV which is just a map, cheap graphics and some data tables. I mean there is a dude with a sword killing monsters in a big open world, surely it cost a lot more to make, no?

Suggesting that those are on the opposite side of a disagreement must be stupid is not how you engage in discussion.

And they certainly can be compared in the context of price. If a person is interested in both games but could only afford one any comparison is unavoidable.

Just because something has fancy graphics needn't mean it was more expensive.

Mechanics takes coding too and might take considerable time to do. And all the events in PI games take time too.

Anyway that's not even the main point. As somebody else stated then you need to look at market sizes. Production costs aren't the sole determinant for price. The expected amount of sales matters a lot too. Say you make a game and spend 10 million $ developing it. You expect to be able to sell 1.5 million copies at the very most and most likely you'll only sell 1 million. So if you want to make any profit you'll want to set the price per copy at at least 10 $, since lower and you likely won't even break even. As there'll be costs maintaining it after release and you'll need some profit too you might set the price at 20 $ a copy.

If on the other hand you expected to be able to sell 5 million copies you could comfortably set the price at 7.5 $.

But EU III was a normal game with normal and reasonably priced DLC's, 3 of them I think. So the standard model - base game plus few DLC's apparently worked for Paradox and its market size.

He was not claiming production costs are the only factor in setting the price.

The other posted cited post launch development and support as reasons for the price, he countered that initial development costs of a game like TW3 are far higher, rendering the other poster's point moot.

The jist of it is this, post launch support can not really justify the price being higher than TW3 when if you take the development cost of TW3 and compare it against the development cost of EU (including post launch support), TW3 was much more expensive to make.

But EU III was a normal game with normal and reasonably priced DLC's, 3 of them I think. So the standard model - base game plus few DLC's apparently worked for Paradox and its market size.
There was much much less content being produced back then. And only a couple patches per release.

TW3 also sold 20 times as much.
Also isn't CD project Red located in Poland? That will lower production costs. PI on the other hand is located in one of the highest wage zones in the World.

Suggesting that those are on the opposite side of a disagreement must be stupid is not how you engage in discussion.

And they certainly can be compared in the context of price. If a person is interested in both games but could only afford one any comparison is unavoidable.
Well if somebody cannot comprehend a fact than what else am i supposed to call them? i mean give me one person who will tell me that TW3 has more replayability than EU IV? Nobody will say that ,imo the average number of hours a paradox customer that owns eu iv has put into the game is close to 100, a TW3 player cannot say that

"comparing the 2 since they cannot be compared is everyone stupid or what?"

It makes someone stupid to compare two games?

There is more to value than replayability and hours played. One hour played in EU4 is not the same as an hour played in TW3. I think I may have put a high number of hours into playing solitaire. I'd throw a fit if someone ever tries to sell it for more than $5.

They said it cost $81 million to make The Witcher 3.

Now I agree that development cost is not the only factor in setting price, but unless you can provide a source that displays development costs being equal or higher for EU4 (base+expansions) don't talk to me about post game support justifies the higher price, especially when much of that support comes by paid DLC.

I'd throw a fit if someone ever tries to sell it for more than $5.
Wouldn't that depend on what it's made from?
I wouldn't give more than 5$ for an ordinary copy of chess, but I have a version with the pieces made from ivory and the board made from marble. That is something I wouldn't mind giving considerably more for (though as it was a gift I don't know what it actually costed, but presumably way more than 5 $).

Have W3 had a full team employed every since release to work on it?
Constant employment racks up costs quite fast.
And again there's also the fact of W3 having a market orders of magnitude bigger.
