Although that's true he did imply that if Doomdark wants it Groogy's opinion on it wont stop it from happening. And another Doomdark quote makes it pretty clear that that is what Doomdark actually wants. So unless Doomdark changes his mind it does seem pretty inevitable. There's also a bit of an implication that Groogy will support Doomdarks decision no matter what but then again that is his job.

This quote is getting taken out of context really fast so think I should make it straight. I agree on Doomdark's opinion of eventually adding China to CK2 and I was referring to what people were complaining on the forum for which were not actual arguments but just the same statements over and over again (performance, never interacted with, which are both non-issues as I continue to work on this). It is also not my job to agree with whatever Doomdark decides, a lot of the design for Horse Lords and expansions before it has been changed because of me or another team member disagreeing with him. Doomdark has the last word and the decision making power, but it does not make him the only creative person on the team.

... I agree on Doomdark's opinion of eventually adding China to CK2.

This really should end the argument as to "will it be added".

Instead, everyone should be brainstorming and providing feedback on what form they'd like to see it.

The only "political" aspect of HL I am disappointed with is the (non) treatment of Tibet. Tibet played important roles in the earlier starts and it would increase replayability a lot in that area.

They should overhaul religion too before releasing a China DLC. If I understand correctly, there were a lot of different religions in China, but considering that the game doesn't have a religious tolerance option, one religion will blanket the other eventually much like in India.

We have budhism and confucianism was not a religion so we have what we need. Maybe Taoism also but who knows.

Weren't there also some local Chinese religions? But my point was rather about the mechanics of religion in the game, such as the automatic proselytisation of regions.
There was always one religion who was more dominant then the other. I suposse they could code them to stay the religion of their capital then the religion of the ruler.

Couldn't they just give China it's own religious type and remove the spread religion option?

Hi Groogy, I don't think I have posted on this forum before. But I just want you and the team to know that your game is awesome. I have bought all DLCs and enjoyed them all. A China expansion pack would be really really great. I know a lot of Chinese friends who love Crusader Kings 2. I think they will love the possible expansion pack too. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!

The most important things for a China DLC, I think, will center around making a highly centralized, non-feudal state interesting to play in.

Which I think for vassals would have to involve noble families with off-the-map estates (similar to patrician baronies), and for the Emperor himself... I'm not really sure. Aside from military affairs, the big things you should have to manage are political intrigue (which could overlap with non-landed noble families jockeying for position, but would also require lots of events and decisions), and for the first time, some mechanic to represent the actual management of a country, not just interpersonal interactions. Stuff like tax policy (including corvee labor), maintaining an efficient, non-corrupt administration, and managing public works projects. A modder could work something out with detailed, lengthy event chains, linked up with decisions, but it would be cool to see a proper mechanic established.

The upside of this would be that these mechanics could be extended to bureaucratic empires west of China, the Byzantines especially. I don't think anyone would complain if the existing parts of the map saw major gameplay improvements as a side effect of development devoted to China.

A very big part of me absolutely loves the idea of adding China, Indonesia, Korea and Japan. Given how early religions travelled between these places and Europe/the Middle-Near East, they weren't all that cut off. Not to mention it would add a ton of diversity to a Mongol playthrough if you can play the founding of the Yuan dynasty or the failed invasion to Japan. Or perhaps keeping Wu Zeitan's Tang dynasty alive or turning the tide by having the Tibetan Empire fight westward instead of east. Said expansion would also allow for a more historical reallocation of the different nomadic tribes since you can go further east.

Then again, another part of me wants a purely China centric game that can cover from the Warring States and founding of Qin to the Three Kingdoms period. China had a few great multiple state periods in the CK 2 timeline (Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms start, anyone?) but these are the clear favourites.

What sort of response is this? This might make sense if China was the base map, but it isn't. Europe is. That's like asking what affect Europe had on America in CK2's timeline.

You don't get it do you?

1. Adding China or WHOLE Asian region is FUN (no matter how accurate it would be) the more complete world (more feudal places included from the world) the more fun it is.

2. It makes perfect sense to add Asian region to the game - because pretty much every where you find a feudal system or in its simplified way - one head ruler, who rule, drink and "crusade" this or that land.

3. I'm having no issue with performance at all - if you run 100 applications at same time well I bet your PC suffers. If you dont wonna have fun with seeing crusader Kings grow in awsome complete game well than it's your problemo mister - expanding crusader kings as much as possible only adds more FUN to the game. I remember how people were whining about "NO INCAS envision please its so rediculace" BUT it turned out to be VERY fun thing in the game. If you have weak PC its not an accuse to brag that China and whole bloody Asian region would not be fun to play - it would be - India have proven this - end of story. Weak PC is not an excuse to keep game on its same level with out any expenditure.

With performance issues galore and the fact that the optimization, while good for some, does not, as promised, restore the speed of pre-ROI CK2, China is a pipe dream, because it would destroy a lot of people's ability to play the game they purchased.

The game is Eurocentric. It's CK2, all the base game characters live in Europe. The game's name is about the conflict between Europe and the Middle East. Get over it.

Game is not centered around Europe - it centered AROUND RULER. Any ruler or "feudal" system where a ruler extended beyond its domain lands. It's game about a ruler who "crusaded" its neighbors, far lands, its rivals and struggled to maintain its power as other "rulers" wanted to be "kings" and rule and so on.

I don't see why adding Australia or America (even if its drastically fantasized) wouldn't be a fun thing however its clear that such a tribal places too primitive like for example in EU 4 north American tribes and hardly can hold title "Crusader King"

So why aren't we adding America and extending the timeline back to Ancient Rome and up to 1700?

Clearly you don't understand and nothing wrong with this but how you express it is some what wired. Because it doesn't make any sense. Different Era with Rome for once - tho I think for fun sake they can role it back to 473 right after barbarians robbed rome (or something in this date) And America well - god knows what was really happening there but if to speculate that we had only tribes well as I said not much of a "crusader kings" there - in other words nothing interesting, one tribe "crusaded another" over a dead fox and that's about it. HOWEVER for fun sake they can add and then you can play for Incas to invade Europe :D

With government types, now it doesn't even have to be about feudalism
