I get it, especially in tribal systems or in low crown authority circumstances, the king would have very little ability to intervene (though I think that's still not quite historically accurate), but please please please do something about family members. I regularly run into the situation where I grant sons titles when I go over limit and they wind up losing them to some other vassal declaring war. Even when I have a formal alliance with said son I can't intervene militarily. That's simply insane as a historical matter. There is no way that a king (or other independent ruler) would sit by and watch a his sons' lands (particularly ones that he gave them) be taken by unrelated vassals.

Right now, all I can do (if I'm even able - it sometimes isn't possible) is feed the kid gold so he can buy mercenaries (though I can't guarantee that he actually hires them). Rulers should be able to join vassal wars for landed children, or should get some sort of stronger "stick" to use against vassals who declare such wars (like an imprisonment reason or something). The current system makes it hard to spread titles around to children without putting them at risk which I think detracts from both the accuracy and enjoyment within the game.

You should be able to ask your vassals to stop war... or is it not available if you're tribal?

But yeah currently as a liege there's just way too little interaction with an allied vassal. I've been using a mod that allows military intervention from both sides in a vassal-liege alliance, for example, if the allied vassal is having a civil war as the liege I can be called to help, or if I'm declaring war on a foreign realm I can call the allied vassal to war alongside me. If you're fine with using mods then you should seek this one out.

Agree. Honestly, declaring war on the son and heir to the throne should just count as high treason.
And there should be a way to make sure that your kids don't just give in to their demands without a fight without consulting you.

I agree that this is a big problem, particularly before high crown authority is unlocked. It makes no sense that other vassals can just attack my landed family members, and I as the liege have no way to do anything about it.

Yes, there is a "stop vassal war" interaction, but if the vassal refuses, there are precisely zero negative consequences for the vassal. And I as the liege lose 75 prestige for even asking. And if I then decide to take the tyranny hit and imprison the other vassal, I am now *hostile* to my family member who I wanted to protect in the first place, and even when I successfully imprison them, I have no way of making them stop the war I wanted them to stop. This is stupid.

Stop war is available, but as noted elsewhere above, it's pretty toothless. In hundreds of hours of play I think I've only had one character who actually successfully ended wars with it in any significant number. Probably 85% of requests are refused. And as noted, that's all that happens. The vassal saying no costs me prestige but gives me no recourse - I don't get an imprisonment reason, it doesn't create an ability for me to join on the opposing side to the obstinate vassal, it doesn't even seem to create any sort of opinion hit for the vassal (it in fact costs me opinion as they lose opinion of me for having had the nerve to even ask them to stop).

I have this problem as well.My another solution right now is to look for the person who is the title claimant and kill them. And if not possible just execute them. The war will become invalid.
The 100 dread ruler who just sit back and watch his son got his land taken by his insignificant vassals is so unrealistic.

My own semi-solution is that I often "lay the groundwork" before granting titles. If I get any imprisonment reason on someone or happen to capture them in battle or siege, and they have any claims on anything in my realm, I will always force them to renounce claims in exchange for release if I can afford to miss out on the ransom. Eliminating other claims floating around does at least improve the odds a bit (though claims can be fabricated and all). But it's still a rather nuisance process that I'm doing to correct for something that seems ahistorical and illogical in the game design.
