I agree this should be added. Until then, here's how you disable them:

Go into Stellaris/prescripted_countries/00_prescripted_countries. In that file, each empire will have a spawn_enabled option. Simply change it from yes to no for each empire.

Uhh, isn't this already the default? Aside from a FE or two (my current game has FE Blorg in it) I have never, ever run into a scripted country across dozens of games. Race selection screen gives you an option of 'always spawn', 'sometimes spawn', or 'never spawn' for each already-made race independently.

OP is talking about the default preset empires (Commonwealth, Ix'Idar, etc). They don't have those options.

It should and I asume it does. In the end it modifies a .txt file in the checked directories.

Yes.
Which is why I too would like an option to disable them during the game creation. I am utterly tired of seeing those empires in ironman, they seem to pop up in every single game. Especially Commonwealth of Man and Tzynn Empire; I've yet to play an ironman game where they weren't around.

Ix'Idar and Scyldari also appear frequently for me. Whenever I play in a tiny galaxy with low empire count, just about all aliens are premades...

Weird, I've so far very rarely encountered any of the premade species.
That said, I have a good dozen of my own 'premade' empires saved and set to enforced spawn, thus there might just be little space for the original empires left.

Yeah why isn't this a thing in the first place since one can do it with the player made empires. Also very important the option to force a spawn.

It's probably just the RNG messing with me. Commonwealth of Man appears in every game, but I don't remember seeing the Blorg often.

As far as I can tell from the game files, it's supposed to be random. But I wonder if there's some balance feature that's causing it: maybe the game throws in couple of premade Militarist empires if you're playing as Pacifist... So you won't have easy victory with federations.

I should probably add in some premade species of my own, just to make the default ones rarer. Since full randomness isn't an option.

Honestly, do that. It enhances the gameplay experience A LOT if you keep meeting 'your previous selfs'. It gives the game a personal charme.

As far as I can tell from the game files, it's supposed to be random. But I wonder if there's some balance feature that's causing it: maybe the game throws in couple of premade Militarist empires if you're playing as Pacifist... So you won't have easy victory with federations.
This is an interesting theory. And it would be reasonable, from a design perspective, to ensure each galaxy is seeded with empires from a variety of types.
I suppose this could be tested by creating 50 fanatic purifiers and then generating galaxs to see whether they're mixed as 'normal' ones or a burning hellscape.

I have the exact opposite issue.

I've only encountered the Chinorr once. As for my own factions, they rarely if ever spawn, even if set to. In a huge map with 23 AI empires and 4 FEs, chances are that one, luckily two of them would be drawn from the pre-existing species pool, the rest being randomly generated.

It's a 10% chance to get one of the premades (even your own if toggled on) as a normal empire, and a 5% chance to have one of the premades (even your own, even if toggled off) spawn as a Fallen Empire. I messed around with files a little, but assuming your Custom Empire has Xenophobe/Xenophile/Materialist/Spiritual, that custom Empire can spawn as a Fallen Empire. Even if Spawn as Fallen is disabled.

In the steamapps/common/Stellaris/prescripted_countries you can change their spawn settings to 'never' :3

However, the "Spawn as Fallen" modifier from prescripted_countries doesn't seem to affect spawning as Fallen at all, really. When that 5% for Fallen Empires happens, it picks from from the entire available pool.

Luckily the Normal Empire spawning conditional is less weird. And I suspect it's ironman compatible ^_^

Hmm, I just realised that the Prescripted Contries are in a folder not actually mentioned in the checksum_manifest.txt
Only Common, Events and Maps are protected.

But there is likely 3 different checksums:
One for the patch version. This one seems to stay static aside from actually updates.
One to check if you can join MP games.
One to check if you can get archeivements.

Hmm, I just realised that the Prescripted Contries are in a folder not actually mentioned in the checksum_manifest.txt
Only Common, Events and Maps are protected.

But there is likely 3 different checksums:
One for the patch version. This one seems to stay static aside from actually updates.
One to check if you can join MP games.
One to check if you can get archeivements.
It's difficult to tell when the achievements are enabled.
I tried disabling the premade empires at one point, without making any other changes. And got no achievements from that game, even though I should've triggered a couple of new ones. Can't really test it, I've already got most of the common achievements.

To counteract this I created a bunch of custom empires and force them to spawn, hopefully taking away every available space, that would otherwise go to the standard empires. It doesn't always work, though. Maybe I need more custom empires.

This method doesn't seem to impact achievements, so theoretically, you could fill the galaxy with friendly federation builders, but I tend to have a mix of different empires, and sometimes two empires share the same species.
