for the disagree one :

I know the screen is in french and you do not have all the informations.

Let's be clear :
Size: 1000 stars
difficulty : grand admiral
scale : none
year : 2437

What you see is a screenshot of another empire ship. The second most powerful empire beyond me, more powerful than any FE. Resources are not an issue (as if it could be in the current game state...).

Now, Imagine for a second I wage war against it. When half is fleet power is made with t1 to 2 equipement when mine is full t5, what do you think will happen ? And there is still people braguing AI is fine ? Just be serious....

Fanatatic Purifiers (or basically any xenophobe that displaces/purges aliens to keep one species only) cuts off a lot of micro. Survivor trait in your "keep POP" REALLY helps, because basically all climates become tolerable (start at 60%, go up to pretty swell with a bit of tech) and further reduce micro. Because AI is weak, you do not need to have full eficient planets, and a bit of unemployment and manual resettling wont kill you.

Thats a T1 Torpedo in one of the slots. You shouldnt even put PD on your vessels if he brings that kindergarten equipment to a T5 fight *G*

How exactly are robots and slaves bugged and unworkable? News to me considering I've been using and abusing them consistently.

Synth Ascension is bugged if you ascend while Synths don't have full rights. If you avoid that you are fine. Unfortunately it turns the best housing pop in the game into the worst housing pop in the game, but that's in exchange for the best production modifiers so its more a question of balance and weird design than it is bugs.

Explain how robots and slaves are non-viable in 2.2 though. The fact is that they are overpowered. They dominate egalitarian builds, or anything else not using robots or slaves. Know what's actually non-viable in 2.2? Trying to run an utopian abundance egalitarian, even though its WAD that it sucks.

Whenever I synthetically ascend in 2.2 (not using any mods btw) I can no longer build my main species ever again no matter what I do. I've seen a few other people post about it as well. It's kinda hard to play when you can't grow your main species for the rest of the game, especially if you tend to play xenophobic empires like I do.

That's actually a swarmer missile, which caps at T2. Those ships will be easy to beat regardless though.

I would accept this on... say... commodore dificulty (that's so hard to say...)

Not on grand admiral. Never, ever ! Do you really want to know my last war outcome was like ? Come on, you know it ! I did not spec my ships I just blob them... and I lost 12 corvets. How am I suppose to have some enjoyment ? I took down an empire more powerful than FE, more powerful than me with an overwhelming fleet. 12 fucking corvets lost.

Not a bug ? Are you really sure ?

Pleasure yourself and do it.

Just take a look

<image snip>

Do you really think you'll have any problem against an AI unable to even update his ship ?

Actually my thoughts are that I wouldn't be competitive early game [<2300] in Grand Admiral. Earlier in my current game I was being attacked by a pair of superior empires. The only thing that saved me was that those empires hated each other and were attacking the same "choke point" in my empire. If they'd had have more early to mid game fleets [via Grand Admiral bonuses] I may not have held.

Granted with better [more optimal] play than I display a good player can handle Grand Admiral -- it's just not something that I'd prefer to do.

If this playthrough is representative I'd prefer the game to start at Admiral and then flip the switch in the mid game / late mid game to Grand Admiral.

Fanatic xenophobe
hyper adaptive, fast-breeding,
tomb-world preference, byzantine bureaucracy
Bio ascension.

Every planet is highly habitable. Your pop-growth is insane so you can keep up with xenophilic, militaristic empires in terms of growth if you also use nutritional plentitude and other food based decisions. You'll have 4 planets in your starting sector. Make those trade planets with the building slots. Use that trade to give you consumer goods and energy. Don't overdo it on commercial zones, though, one per planet is fine so long as you also have bureaucratic facilities and cities. Prosperity traditions are a great boost here.

In the long run since you only have two positive traits and one race, bio ascension is going to be very natural and easy. Your admin cap is ultra efficiently used because you don't need massive imperial sprawl. Your mineral production is great because you're not spending many minerals on consumer goods. I found in the mid-game that city planets, habitats, and

You can ramp up tech poduction due to how efficiently you're using your pop cap. Until the mid game you play pretty quietly, take a dozen planets or so, get your economy going... and then after mid-game you explode out. Pick one neighbor to eat, vassalize the others, purge the planets you conquer, and ultimately, yeah, if the game crashes, oh well.

TBH with the current patch, I have the most fun just optimizing my own civ.

Quoted for truth. It is more interesting to optimize your galactic empire, but it can get a bit tedious. I seriously would prefer if pops would migrate themselves to where there is room and work, and the ability to pre-plan buildings that get built once they unluck (and you have the mats). Or just planet templates instead of retarded sectors. Mining world means build X then Y then Z until full. Or something.

xenophile egalitarian works okay enough. yeah you'll get shitheads who insist on emigrating to 20% worlds, but you should be colonizing all planets regardless, so it doesn't matter that much.

eventually you can just genemod/robotify them anyways rendering it all moot.

The only thing I've experienced so far with playing on GA with no scaling is that, if you have a hostile empire spawn RIGHT next to you, then you will likely die.

Anything else and there's no difference, as the AI is unlikely to invade immediately and it is fairly easy to at least achieve enough level of power to deter them from invading.

Heh… I play on ensign and exactly that happened to me. Got spawned right next to fanatic exterminators, wham I was dead! But then I admit I am not a master of this game. ;-)
