Ok, so Germany won. For now.
They got their victory conditions, then the game asked me if I wanted to continue or end the game.
I clicked continue, but now it won't come out of pause.

How do I play past where Germany supposedly 'wins'? I know why, it's just afraid of me. It wants to quit while its ahead. But it's just a matter of time! bwahahahaha!

As far as I know, the game sort of locks up once it hits January '48. If you aren't at that date yet then I'm not sure what the issue is.

Edit the saved game file by changing the end date, but your planes won't work anymore since they can't perform operations past the original end date.

I have my TFH modded to end in 1960, and planes work just fine after default end date. You need to be sure you mod the correct file as TFH has its own seperate file in default install. I do not have steaming pile version, if that makes a difference

Ok, good! Had me going a little (as in 'how broke is this game really?')
Thanks!
It's not broken, there is a reason why the devs implemented an end date...

Well, the real reason there is a true end date I'd wager is because under normal circumstances, especially in vanilla hoi3, and to a lesser degree SF, the game would get unplayably laggy towards the end - simply due to the huge amount of units on the screen. I remember in vanilla if you got past 1943 without significant lag making the game a chore to play, you had a God-like computer *and* you were restarting the application fairly often (memory leak) because every night at midnight the game would have to take quite a long time to sort out what all was going on lol 20 seconds or more every single midnight.

It's a lot better in with FTM/TFH.

Steam won't affect your game files *unless* you have steam set to check the file after each playthrough - even then it won't affect the game, unless a file you've modded sudden is detected as corrupted by steam - then it will put the original file back in place and your modded changes will be gone. You can disable that simply by turning automatic updates for hoi3 off - I doubt there will be any anyways lol.

Another instance would be if you broke your game somehow and used a "verify integrity" check on steam, it may end up copying over files you've modded. But I've had the game since release and played it off and on since then without needing to verify the integrity to unscrew the game lol.

I more-or-less understand why they put in an end date.
But I'd like to play to the end of the tech tree in the 60's, and long enuf for me to conquer the world after ger & jap have conquered the-rest-of-it-except-me. So basically I sit there until the whole world is grey and yellow then let slip my dogs of war. I might have to play one side first and switch sides to speed things up.

In the i-thot-i-knew-but-now-can't-recall-anything category: how do you change the date?
Where, in what file, do you change the end date for the game? (I thot I knew and thot I changed it...but now just can not remember where.)
And where, in the saved file, do you change the end date? I tried changing all the 'end_date's I could find, but ended up crashing the game.

<edit> found the tfh\common\defines.lua place for the regular game.
do need what it looks like in a scenario file.
