Have you guys played the game yet its quite long I mean how many weeks do you want to play the same game for. 1936-1946 is fine for normal ww2 hoi play.

It wouldn't necessarily be for a Grand Campaign but to add other smaller ones.

It is possible to play beyond 1947. Put it on very fast and the game goes on after the end scenario date. You just have to put up with the end screenie which you can move. The game is still functional. Can somebody get rid of the screenie?
Two things -
1. You can start a year earlier. Make a copy of the 36 campaign data file , rename it to something then edit the start date to read 1935 instead of 36. It wont go any earlier than this, but it will give you an extra year.
2. Save your game just before the time runs out in 1947, go in and edit your save game file (just need a text editor) and set the current date to after the normal end scenario date.

Thanks for the tip - I like the possibility of getting an extra year's worth of research and infrastructure improvements out of the way. The OOB might not be correct, but I can live with that...
Does this mean setting the date to 2 Jan 1948 or something like that? Will the game continue to function? Forever?

Hmmm, it would be great for that end-date option to work - it´s only 1944 in my game atm but then there´s still so much more to conquer
Have you actually TRIED editing your savegame file? No matter what changes i make to it, it always CTD me when i load it. There might be some kind of checksum that we don't know about.
Ive never had a problem eidting save game files. What are you using? Always use something like Notepad - never use MS word as it adds characters and will crash any game file.
If you use a plain text editor and be carefull what you add/change you shouldnt have any problems. I have edited all kinds of things without problem.
As a start to any game I play in 1935 I set the war entry for each nation to -50, just so the war situation doesnt get out of hand WAY before it did historicly (Unless you start attacking folks of course)

Okay I'll try it. What you're saying is, I change the current year BEFORE time runs out and before the annoying popup appears, to avoid it altogether? That sounds handy.
P.S. - I just thought of something... savegame files are always over 2 megs, so Notepad forces me to use Wordpad and I think thats where the format problem comes from.

i tried it but it didnt work - always changed date back to 1948 and ended the game (it still runs but the time stopped). what did i wrong?
found a solution:
