Haven't played this game for awhile and I was wondering if Earth can spawn as anything other than the UNE if I pick the CoM? For example, could it be a tomb world, a primitive world (maybe post-apocalyptic but not devoid of life), Custodian, etc? Thanks in advance for any answers.

The Lost Colony origin guarantees that your actual homeworld is always an Advanced Empire, though it will have random ethics.

Additionally, the wiki states:

  • If the Lost Colony spieces uses the Human portrait, the randomized Advanced Empire will be created on Earth.
  • If playing the Commonwealth of Man or a Lost Colony edited from the Commonwealth of Man preset, the Advanced Empire will always be the United Nations of Earth.
  • If the Advanced Empire should spawn on Earth, but the Sol System is already used by a different Empire, it will not be generated.
that's not my typo, the wiki spells it spieces

So, if you're CoM, then your daddy will always be UNE, unless in the rare case another empire already took the real estate.

Ah, Thanks!

I doubt they'd do it since this game has been out for some time but I think it would be interesting if they had more options for UNE/CoM interactions. Like if each had the chance to spawn as a tomb world and then you figure out what went wrong in your homeworld/colony through an event chain, etc. etc.
