Hi all,

Just started a game as Duke of Holland in CKDV TASS, and having trouble working out how to make progress. It's only been a decade, but apart from finding a bride for my king and building lots of stuff, there hasn't been much I can do. There aren't any nearby marriages that give potential for inheritance, and until either France or Germany collapses I can't do much with war either. My ultimate goal is to make my 1st kingdom title that of Burgundy, and then to run rampant over France and Germany. :D

Any ideas? Or do I just have to wait for Germany to collapse?

Cheers,
Stigandr.

Browse for an enemy that already is in a war and has mobilized his troops and marched them far away. Then declare war and hope to siege his province before he returns or your liege make peace ^^
Research Siege techniques to be able to siege faster.

And always keep searching for brides with high stats - a high stewardship score can double your income and thus double the number of your soldiers.

Also you can play the double agent...declare war on a vassal of france or germany and after you got what you wanted offer peace to the king as your vassalization...play it like that until you become king

When starting in 1066 as the duke of Holland, try to assasinate the duke of Saxony (Magnus Billung), his heir is his father Ordulf Billung and you are the 2nd heir. Ordulf is already old and will most likely not produce any children anymore. So in time you will then inherit the duchy of Saxony.

For you wife, wait till the daughter of the duke (Rudolf von Rheinfelden) of Swabia comes age (assasinate his son Berthold) and then your sons will inherit the duchy of Swabia. This will make you the most powerfull vassal in Germany.

From there you can start looking for expansion in Burgundy.

Also you can play the double agent...declare war on a vassal of france or germany and after you got what you wanted offer peace to the king as your vassalization...play it like that until you become king

This is also a good strategy and you can also do it like this

1. Declare war on a vassal of France
2. Germany and France will go to war to
3. Take your goal in France and make peace
4. The king of Germany will then start to ask for your troops, refuse.
5. Your loyalty will go down, once it is low enough you can offer to become vassal of the king of France
6. Declare war on a German vassal
7. Take the title you want and make peace
8. See point 4 and replace Germany with France
