With the introduction of Crisis Aspirant empire types, both player and AI, through the Nemesis DLC, Stellaris's political landscape has shifted drastically towards a more interactive gameplay. No longer were players forced to sit on the sidelines and watch in awe at Crises, because now they too could get in on the action.
However, with the release of the Nemesis DLC being almost a year and a half ago, and no significant changes to the functionality of a Player Crisis, the gameplay of a Crisis Aspirant has become tired and monotonous. Each battle won is the same, and each war fought victoriously provides no new rush of excitement.
A form of progressing through different modes of Crisis via the use of a tree, very much like the tradition trees being worked through in the Orion update, which would allow you to choose the perks of your Player Crisis, what kind of threat you pose to the galaxy, and whether or not your friends can have a piece of the reality-warping pie through secret Crisis Federations, would greatly improve the Nemesis gameplay.
I'm sure the Paradox team have a huge amount of work already piled up on them with the upcoming release of a major overhaul to the base Stellaris system, so I don't expect any kind of response immediately, but if you agree that the Crisis could use an upgrade (Or different upgrades, as it were) please updoot this post to increase the likelihood that it does eventually receive some kind of response.
