Hi -

have searched for this, found nothing, apologies if thread is redundant/duplicate.

Title tells you most of what you need to know. When I get to the load game dialog, all saves are there and clickable. I can click them, they make the click noise, and graphic changes colour to indicate the file has been selected. However, the "play" button remains greyed out. If I click it, I end up selecting Caliph Al-Mutazz, who lives under the "Play" button. the "play" button then comes to life, and I can start a new game as Al-Mutazz (or whoever).

I'm running Windows 8, DLC up to Old Gods.

Have done a full reinstall, with no change to the problem. All help gratefully appreciated!

The process is as follows:

click 'Load Game' - click save file -click' load' -click 'play'.

The way to load got changed with CM(2.2).
Earlier simply clicking the file already loaded it. Now you have to manually tell the game to load.

yeah, I realised this last night, when I started a game on my laptop. Much more obvious on a small screen, less so on a 1440p monitor.

Wasn't sure if I was going senile, and forgetting how to use the VHS in my own age, or whether this was a new "feature". Despite being glad I'm not senile, I would humbly suggest that this is a *terrible* piece of UI design, and recommend you change it back. 1 click per action, guys.

Hahahaha, thank you Aardvark Bellay - I had the same realization and I too used a laptop (the last weeks) and now on my surround-setup I just failed badly ^.^
(especially because I loaded a game or two on the big monitors and THEN I forgot how to do it the proper way :p)

As far as i remeber that was done to prevent memory related issues when a game was first selected and then another.
In other words, when that happened the info from the first file wasn't properly deleted from temporary cache and maps and other stuff got messed up....or somesuch problem.
I might be wrong, but i recall a good reason for it to be done the way it's now.

I still remember my confusion when they had just changed this.
So, you're welcome. :)
