This may sound crazy to most of you at this forum, but one option I would like to see is the ability to play as an entire Alliance. I know it has been stated that you can gain some control of your allies troops but wouldn't it be much more fun if you could control the entire axis or allied countries? It would allow for some greater what ifs and give the axis a better shot at victory. Imagine as the axis player having control of Japan, Germany and Italy. You could move the IJN carriers off the coast of England and do to Scapa Flow what was done to Pearl harbor before the USA even gets involved. Than move the IJN back to the Pacific leaving the KM to mop up in the Atlantic. Two front war against Russia, better allied coordination at D-day, the possibilities are endless. Maybe this can be done in the editor, which hopefully is easier to use than EU2's. thoughts?

i really dont see how you can run 3 countries at once???
that would require the maganging skills of a 3 armed man who took a lot of brain and energy drugs while playing on the worlds best computer and having adrenaline flowing directly to his heart. :eek: :eek: :eek:
jk however it will probably be hard enough to run your country let alone another or 2-3 other ones.. asking the japanease to shift their fleet to the atalantic might work and be fun but if the american ai is really wacky it might land 3 marine divisions in tokyo when you try that :D

I just hope the German ai is smarter than the Turk ai in EU2 (a little of topic, but responding to the last post). Taking for example the Turk's unwillingness and great fear of dow'ing the Mam's, lets hope the Germans aren't afraid of the big bad Poles ( who in all my full respects, put up a damn good fight and if the English and French had acted like full allies, definitely could have survived the attack, or at least a little longer than historically... unless of course another historical event happened and the SU joined in on the fun, the poles were fiercely brave, but that's just too much.) Hmm... I think my parenthetical portion was the largest of my post... :D

Yes a bit off my original topic but a good point. The axis AI needs to be overly aggressive in order to establish itself before Russia and USA enter. On another side note, can your nation declare war on anyone? It would be fun as france to run through the low countires and into Germany while they are busy with poland.

As far as France running through the Netherlands... did you mean conquering them? If that is the case, I think from what i've read so far, that France would suffer great inner turmoil for being a democracy and arbitrarilly dow'ing not only other democracies, but what could be friends and possible allies... OH, and as far as the original point of the thread, controlling every allied country or axis for that part in the world, would almost be a fate worse than death, i'd be stressed out and bald in the first three days. :)

However (im skipping around here, I know) back to the democracy tweakin a little and turning warmonger, how many things i'd love to do with that... Oz annexing the sheep shaggers... I mean New Zealand ;) j/k... Or Denmark re-establishing her Denmark-Norway kingdom or even the Kalmar union... ally with the Axis maybe? :D

Thats why you can run the game at a very very slow pace :)
I think I was getting ahead of myself with that now though. Best to wait and see how the game deals with country co-op and unit sharing. Should be fun to see how they handle a d-day like operation.

Yeah I'd agree that the game mechanics of handling (for example) Barbarossa as the Germans with, Romania, Hungary, Italy ect armies is going to be really interesting? Plus I don't think your crazy to suggest that you should have the option of playing as all the axis/allies. I'd think that I would be a cool optional extra for the game, it would make for epic gameplay.;)

..methinks..

..it shouldn't be as big as controlling all aspects of the three nations..

simply have this option;

when you play the Japanese and you meet with your army or flottila in a region with a German army or Flottila and YOUR commander is higher in rank than the other(s) than you get the opportunity to MERGE the armies/taskForces and command it.

That's all..
For the programmers this is a relatively simple thing to do..

and for you it's just a matter of hopping your Highest ranking officer around the globe to pick up alliance armies/navies.

Only problem with that idea is if you are using another countires forces and they really need them back. Lets go back to my example of the Joint naval operation. In order to get the Japanese fleet to bomb scapaflow and help take control of the Atlantic before they go after the USA I would have to sail a German fleet to Japan, round up some Japanese aircraft carriers, sail my fleet back and attack. Several months at sea wasted. Than after I am done how do I transfer the ships back to the IJN? Do I have to sail them all the way back, or detach them there in the Atlantic and hope the AI brings them home? What if they stay around in the Atlantic and Yamamoto really needs them for the upcoming war with the US. Would have been much easer if I controlled both Nations. This is really not a good example because it is not historical but it does show why there would be a bonus to controlling mulitple nations. A better example is D-Day, I am Great Britian and in order to be on time with the landings I really should give control of my army to USA. However, do I really want to leave all my men in the hands of the AI? I am not sure how much work it will be to manage countires in HOI, I feel it could be a whole lot easier which would allow for controlling alliances, or it could be more complex which shoots my idea in the foot.
