Exactly my thoughts, no comment, not mentioning it afterwards, it reminds me of the ring worlds who we know are in game but weren't supposed to be shown. It's interesting that Paradox hasn't even mentioned the Plant phenotype at all since its discovery though.

But they didn't mention ring worlds either. Nor commented them. They've never mentioned it and it only looked like placeholder text so it's probably something that was scrapped early on or they didn't have time to complete. Maybe there'll be a DLC for it at some point but I'd be very surprised to see it on release.
Why would they get rid of it? It's going to be DLC material, sooner or later. Perhaps it's the reason why they are not talkative about it, so people won't freak out about future DLC production before game came out.Early in making it, I mean. We haven't seen any "plant" art after all, they may have only had a few sketches before they got rid of it.

Yeah but in the blorg stream, they quickly changed the view when encountering the ring world, like it shouldn't be seen by the community. They have mentioned ring worlds. There was an article where they said there's a ringworld called Sanctuary that can lead into a kind of early-game crisis plotline.
This makes senseIf it were plant species it would have said vegetation. PLANT sounds like a programming plant or something... Indeed PLA could be short for placement. Can't think if it is short for anything but doubt it's plants...
