Plantoids - but with 100% less leaves (could I upload this to steam?)

Hi all, ive got maya up and running and am screwing around with the models from some ships.

I've noticed its extremely easy to rip off the "energy leaves" for lack of a better term from the sides of most plantoid vessels (haven't checked every mesh file yet, as there are a lot).

I could - in theory - produce an alternate plantoid shipset quite quickly (one issue i have with plantoid ships is it feels odd using them if youre using a non-plant species, on account of all those leaves).

I want to check 2 things before i go ahead with this.
  1. Would anyone be interested in playing with planotid ships without leaves? (provided the have the plantoid DLC)
  2. Would i be able to upload this to steam workshop and force it to only activate for people with plantoids DLC? Seeing as its basically just the DLC but edited slightly.

Thanks.

Heres 2 screenshots of the starting 3 slot corvette without leaves.

If you look closely on the sides, you can still see the "stubs" that the leaves were attached to, oh well)

Interestingly there are several meshes that dont seem to be used at all by the game - such as the below one
plantoid_01_battleship_mid_L2S4.mesh - judging by the name it is set up (or at least modelled for 2L and 4S slots as a central module on a battleship) - no such module exists ingame when i use research_all_technologies, or when i consult the wiki on ship parts.

In addition to those two S turret rings and 1 L turret ring on either side, it has a really cool looking Command tower.

Edit: found another interesting unused component - 1L 4M - this one even has a hole in the middle of it's superstructure.

Edit 2: found a unique hammerhead looking bow 2M 4S that is also unused, as far as i can tell. The leaves ordinarily go behind the hammerhead section, behind the small guns, already removed them here.

Edit 3: I'd forgotten about the other launcher models

After all missiles/torpedoes were moved to G slots many patches ago, instead of being S/M/L weapons, the Small and Large missile tubes are not used by the game anymore (though i think ive seen some mods use them).

I remember terraforming stations from the first released version. They were removed pretty early, by Utopia at the latest. I have no idea why there's one in the Plantoids pack.

Yep. Terraforming Stations were removed in 1.3, Plantoids was released during the lifetime of 1.2.

@Topic:
I don't know how the game restricts access to ship sets specifically (or however they're actually called), but generally when people re-use DLC-content, they just set the same limitations that are active in the DLC itself. If there's a "host_has_dlc = XYZ" tag that you can make use of somewhere in the process, then that will probably be enough, judging by how things are commonly done.

I don't think there are any official guidelines on things like this though, or if they are, I haven't been able to find them.
