Here is what you can do:
  1. Make a one province big plan ( to prevent divisions running around )
  2. Wait till it ticks to full
  3. Select all divisions
  4. Click Ctrl+h to de-assign them from plan ( don't delete plan or bonus is lost 8 times as fast )
  5. Move units manually and attack

You need to make the frontline and create an offensive line, but you don't have to let the AI control your units when you want to attack. They'll use the planning bonus even if you micro them yourself.
The planning bonus decays 8x faster if you manually control your units then if you let the AI handle your attacks. One of the new features in 1.5.

Just found that in the defines file. That's one of the most mind-boggling changes I've ever seen.

Is this a WAD? I failed to find it on 1.5 patchlog.
Paradox has a habit of not noting important changes in the patchnotes like that
