What exactly will happen if a planet is liberated? Where will their tech levels be? What about their ethos and primary species? Government?

I ask because one of my planned empires is a sort of militaristic peace keeper. While I won't target based on ethos/government, I can see it becoming problematic if liberating worlds from say slavers or purifiers just results in copies of that empire.

So if A is a peaceful race, and B is a conqueror, what if A is taken over by B and after some time I am able to liberate their worlds? I would like to see a similar empire to A be formed, but species/ethos mixing might make it difficult to guarantee that. Not to mention, the government of A is pretty much erased.

IIRC a liberated planet should have your ethos (the liberator's ethos)

About tech level, i don't know, i don't remember to have seen any info about this. Maybe they keep the same tech level of their former nation.

Ah geez! A bunch of liberated Fanatic Militarist Spiritualists for me, then? I'm sure it will be fine!

Sounds like something that maybe could use a bit of modding for those interested in restoring lost empires (again, or at least one with a similar structure).

The newly liberated government will have your government's ethos, however the planets' POPs will still keep their original ethos... so have fun peacekeeping for your new friends.

Don't know about tech level, but I presume it'd be the same as the original overlord of those liberated planets.

What I wonder: Will it be possible to liberate several systems and have them form one empire or will every liberated system always become its own empire? I like the idea of carving out a buffer zone out of a whole region of an enemy empire.

Check out the follow-on Q&A that Wiz offers on Twitter. In particular:

Question: "Also, what happens if you give 4-5 planets from the same empire independence in different wars. new factions?"

Wiz Answer: "You get lots of tiny new states."

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but somewhat implies / assumes that if you give independence to 4-5 planets from the same empire in the same war, they will become a single new state.

Anyway... got to go... but check out the Twitter Q&A, it may answer more of your questions.
