As I'm sure we all know by now, there are Seven planet types that can be colonised (Continential, Oceanic, Tropical, Arctic, Tundra, Desert and Arid). These are in a wheel system, allowing the race to have their first choice (initial homeworld) and then two second choice planets (First 80%, second two 60% then 20% followed by 0%).
We also know the six phenotypes in place now. However I'm wondering in future if we're to get Silicoid/Crystaline based life (playable not space lifeforms) as well as many others. To have a second wheel which would overlap the first and then delve into other planet types available for only certain new phenotypes.
So Silicon based sentients would potentially have
Desert Arid
Dune Barren
Volanic Molten
Infernal
Ammonia based life forms would potentially have
Tundra Artic
Glacial Frozen
(I know methane atmo)Titanean Ammonic
Toxic(new sub-type? Venus wouldn't be hospitable to the Volus)
In their colonisable options. Which would open up a completely different avenue for play (which I admit is rather premature considering Stellaris isn't even out yet... but still!
)
Opinions? (Oh and... first ever thread!)
