So we have multiple crisis events for the late game, hell we even got a new one (The Shroud) in the Utopia update however I am thinking that we need some events for the mid-game that wouldnt threaten the entire galaxy but they are fairly dangerous to empires.
My thoughts are a
Plague - In the game the precursor civilization of the Irassian Concordat (I believe) were destroyed by a large plague that managed to spread planet to planet until it had effectively wiped out their entire civilization. I have been thinking of something similar that can randomly occur early-mid game. The player (and A.I.) will be granted an option to close its borders to stop the possible spread of the virus or hope it simply will not hit your borders, if the virus hits your borders then you will be forced to establish quarrantine zones which will hopefulyl curb the spread of the virus but are very costly. If the plague continues to spread a major migrant crisis will trigger in the area and all empires will expierience a large influx of migrants if they have allow migration.
The plague will continue to spread until
1. All infected hosts are killed and the area's that were infected are destroyed to neutralize the infection.
2. A cure is successfully created through a joint effort with every civilization however this can take a very long time (upwards to 30 years)
Some events during the crisis would be infected ships attempting to land on planets and you are forced to decide to let them in or destroy them (they could be not infected), Using the nuclear option on infected populations to destroy it, weaponizing the virus and having it infiltrate other worlds.
This could be a minor event and could be wiped out in a year or two or it can literally kill entire species all depending on how empires react to it.
Any other ideas?
